Go to your local police station for an application form. You will need to show that you have a valid reason for owning a shotgun, that you have access to an area to hunt (ie. permission of a landowner) and you need to have some references from people 'of standing in the community' such as a clergyman, solicitor, accountant or the like. You also need to show that you have an appropriate locking gun cabinet in your home. It's quite a performance, I'd like to own a gun for clay pigeon shooting, but cannot meet the requirements. Shooting magazines often have a page with all the info. Good luck with it.

Oh, and obviously if you have a criminal record, or a history of depression or anything like that you can forget it - they will want to get a report from your doctor.

What sort of gun?
A shotgun certificate is MUCH easier to obtain then a Firearms cert.

Also, if i recall correctly, you can go on an organised hunt and shoot guns owned by (and under the supervision of) a license holder without needing to hold a license yourself, can someone confirm?

Regards, Dan.

Try at a rifle club, but don't think you're just going to walk in and get any kind of a licence to go hunting in this country - we don't do things like that in GB unless it's a REALLY special and well-organised hunt, but as most of it's been banned, don't hold your breath.

Your Local police station and ask them for a firearms certificate application. Your local police station will tell you where and to whom you should apply (Usually at the polices station) You cannot buy any firearm without a firearms licence (air pistols/rifles excluded) Nor can you buy ammunition for your gun. If you already have the gun without this licence then you are breaking the law.
