We don't really know what Jesus looked like but we hang a cross with Jesus on it or have a painting of his likeness on our wall. In the bible it says make no graven image but if we don't really worship the picture, is that wrong to have it there as a reminder of what he did for us?

When I suffered from cancer and drew nearer to God as I recovered I felt inclined to paint pictures of Christ because I felt so close to Him. It didn't feel wrong at the time....

I believe nothing is wrong with that as long as you don't worship the pictures ... I guess they put these pictures in chrurches also, don't they ? where are you from ?

As long as you don't see the image or object itself as something to worship, then I do not think that it is a problem in any way. The point of religious images or objects is to inspire and remind you about your faith.
And even if it is wrong in some way to have visual reminders of faith, God is forgiving and I really do not believe that he will hold such trival errors against his believers when there are many more horrible sins that could be commited.

I don't think so, I have one hanging over my bed. My Priest had blessed it for us and we just feel better at night. Growing up I had a lot of problems with demons and this picture of Jesus helped me to stay focused. I do not know if this is what He looks like but I needed to put a face to Him to be able to talk to Him. So no as ling as you do not worship the picture you can have one. Remember to just Worship God and live according to His word.

No one has seen Jesus so what is the purpose of hanging a wrong picture and worshiping it. More over Jesus had never said to worship him .

Hello!! :o) As a Christian - I think it's highly inappropriate to have ANY image of Christ. [For the reasons you already gave] I understand and appreciate your argument in favour of having such things - but I think it's best to do what God tells us to do. Besides - perhaps God IS telling not to have such things because it will give Satan a much better chance of deceiving people IF he shows up looking like the IMAGE of Christ that MAN conjured up. Have a great day!! Craig!! :o)

If this image helps you to focus and pray of course not. Holy pictures can help lead us into prayer. The are merely a tool to help one focus. If you are praying to the picture then you would be worshipping an image.

As long as you and everyone in you house KNOW that it is only a representation and do not pray to it, there is no problem. But if anyone may be, even slightly, inclined to pray to the picture, get rid of it.

I suppose there's nothing wrong with a picture of Jesus on your wall, unless it's a black velvet Jesus; I prefer bunnies and duckies with the duckies in bunny costumes though.
I actually do have a painting on my wall of two bunnies and a ducky, with the ducky wearing bunny ears.

No, not really, but one things leads to another, and they all add up to trouble. But if you think you can work with just the Jesus picture, go for it, but that's it! No more, promise.
