Islam has no connection with true worship, or with Christianity. Islam certainly has no connection with Jehovah's Witnesses, who totally reject interfaith.
Interestingly, Jehovah's Witnesses understand the Scriptures to teach that even false Christianity serves some purpose as a "dragnet" capturing the attention of multitudes regarding the basics of the bible and Christ Jesus. It is not until "the conclusion of the system of things" that false Christians are destroyed.
(Matthew 13:47-49) Again the kingdom of the heavens is like a dragnet let down into the sea and gathering up fish of every kind. 48 When it got full they hauled it up onto the beach and, sitting down, they collected the fine ones into vessels, but the unsuitable they threw away. 49 That is how it will be in the conclusion of the system of things: the angels will go out and separate the wicked from among the righteous

The branch took place, as all JWs are taught, at the time of Abraham, from whom all Arabs descend. Allah means the "God of Abraham", so the Arabs are cousins to the Jews. Unlike Islam, or the Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses never claimed a visit, a new prophecy, and any special visitation by an angel of God. They merely relied on what was found in the Bible, starting with calculating when the signs of the last days and of the second presence of Christ would take place. They said in the 1890s, that the signs would start in 1914, and sure enough, WWI started in that year. Also, the Spanish Flu epidemic, and major volcano eruptions. They didn't prophecy this, merely just used math from the Bible. Yes, they made mistakes, such as still celebrating Christmas and being involved in politics, but they learned as time moved on.

From what I recall Sarah had a serious lack of faith when God told her at her old age her husband would have a son who would be the head of a great religion so she gave her hand servant to her husband to give him a son. Then after she gave birth to a son then Sarah did. Which Sarah to secure the birth rights of her second born son gave the servant her freedom and sent her off with a new born child into the world with not very much if anything. Such that the Jews and the Muslims began. Seeing as Sarah was not probably very pleasing to God for not being as faithful and also sending a poor woman off with a newborn baby...I think they have suffered especially since they crucified Christ which then started the Christian religion because of his disciples.
But they are all religions but the truth faith is God.
God is the way the light and the spirit of the one true church which is probably the best way God can put it in human language.

Islam, Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses practice man-made religions.
Christianity is a relationship with the Living uncreated Creator of the universe.
Accepting Jesus Christ as one's LORD and Savior makes a person a Christian. Being visited by the angel Gabriel does not.

Isnt Islam just a branch of Christianity, like the Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses?
No. Islam is the perfect religion
Or did Mahommad ACTUALLY get visited by the angel gabriel??
Yes.
wouldnt that mean that Muslims really are christians?
No.
Islam preaches the Oneness of God, NOT trinity.
Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) was the last Prophet.
The Quraan was revealed to Muhammad (Peace be upon him) via the angel Gabriel (Peace be upon him).
The Muslims accept Jesus (Peace be upon him) as being one of the noble Prophets (Peace be upon them all) of God.
There is story of a certain Christian priest, who when he saw Muhammed (Peace be upon him) said that he recognised the signs in him that showed that he was the promised Prophet.
After the angel Gabriel visited Muhammed (Peace be upon him) in the cave, this what happened:
"..The Prophet returned to Khadija while his heart was beating rapidly. She took him to Waraqa bin Naufal who was a Christian convert and used to read the Gospel in Arabic Waraqa asked (the Prophet), "What do you see?" When he told him, Waraqa said, "That is the same angel whom Allah sent to the Prophet) Moses. Should I live till you receive the Divine Message, I will support you strongly."

No, Islam is not a branch of Christianity, but Islam, Judaism, and Christianity are all rooted in the same belief. They are cousins, not direct descendants.
Yes, Mohammed (pbuh) was visited by the angel Gabriel, who brought the verses of the Quran which Mohammed (pbuh) then recited to the people who wished to hear.

Thank you for this question.
Taken literally from the Quran the word islam simply means to submit to God's will and muslim simply means to be one who does submit to God's will.
In the original meaning of these words in the Quran, Abraham (as) and the prophets that followed him (peace upon all of them) were all muslims and preached islam of the one God.
Also, all revealed scriptures are simply an earthly manifestation of the eternal book of God which is not revealed to us except in those earthly books that chronicle the revelation as given to these prophets. The Angel Gabriel (ra) (Jibrieel in Arabic) meaning "God's compeller" (yea it comes from the same root word as al Jabbar - the compeller) has been the messenger to bring this revelation many times, as well as other messages to mankind. Gabriel (ra) did deliver the message to the prophet Muhammad (saw) and in essence it is from the same eternal book.
Therefore, in the light of eternal messages all these are really part of one religion, that is the religion of the God of Abraham, which first involves hearing God's will and understanding it and obeying it. Put another way, it means that what we call Islam today, and Christianity and Judaism and all the related sects are all really part of the original religion.
And Allah knows best.
Peace and Blessings,
Salim
