I'm hearing a lot of people say that Frontline is becoming ineffective. It's been on the market for quite a while and fleas are becoming immune to it.
Advantage, not Advantage plus, is still working.
Try vacuuming your carpets and then sprinkling Twenty Mule Team Borax on it. Do this for 3 wks and the borax will kill the fleas in the carpet and will kill the fleas that are hatching from the eggs in the carpet.
I use an otc topical called Bio Spot. I've used it for over 10 yrs now on all my dogs and on all the rescues that I have had. So far, it still works. Haven't seen a flea or a tick in over 10 yrs.

When you tried the frontline, which is usually very effective, did you de-flea the house and dog bedding etc etc too?? Flea eggs can linger about for ages and then, winter time comes along and we pop on the old heating only to get more of the darn fleas about! Sometimes you need to do a couple of frontlines over a few months...it will tell you on the pack...to prevent re infestation.

Most of the natural remedies can take a long time to take effect and are better and preventing re-infestation. If your dog is in distress or suffering allergic reactions to the fleas, then please consider using a chemical method. I have seen very severe infestations which could only be cleared by using dilute solutions of sheep-dip. however these are full of organophosphates and need expert help. Get a good drop-on or injectable from your vet.
Then try the garlic to keep fleas at bay. Also change your dog's bedding and burn or dump the old stuff.

I'm really surprised Frontline didn't work - it's very highly regarded by most. did you apply it properly (i.e. on the skin at the nape of the neck/along the spine?)

A good anti-flea shampoo, followed by a thorough bath is the next step. I know this isn't 'natural', but really, I've never found anything that really worked that wasn't chemical-based.

Good luck.

frontline is not a natural remedy. Why are you searching for an alternative? The alternative simply don't work very well. I have had discussions with people who recommend garlic, lavender poil etc etc and who tell me that they work well when you can plainly see the animal scratching itself raw behind them while they have flea bites all up their legs.
Use the safe effective remedies that your vet can provide.

If you are still having problems after using frontline, I would look for a flea hatch in your home. Bomb the house, treat your yard as well. Try switching to something like Advantage or revolution. Do you have cats?? If so, check your cats for fleas, they could be the culprit of reinfestations.

If it is still a problem you need to treat the room and soft furnishings too. the fleas or eggs can be in carpets etc for up to seven years, then as soon as an animal enters the home they regenerate themselves, nasty little things. We had a problem a few years back a man came and fumigated. Fleas don't like the smell of vinegar, tea tree or eucalyptus. good luck!

was with a tea tree oil shampoo either one for dogs or Australian tea tree stuff which are sold in many chemists or Boots. Remember if you frontlined the dog you should have got a frontline 'fogger' to deflea the whole house-like a aerosol air freshener.

First, spray all material in your home. When you have done that, bathe all animals in carbolic soap, leaving soap on for 10 mins before rinsing, clears mine every time. Fleas don't like carbolic!! Comb dogs when dry to remove dead fleas and eggs, use flea comb or kids lice combs, both are effective.
