3 MEN GO INTO A MOTEL. THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK SAID THE ROOM IS $30

SO EACH MAN PAID $10 AND WENT TO THE ROOM.

A WHILE LATER THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK REALIZED THE ROOM WAS ONLY $25

SO HE SENT THE BELLBOY TO THE 3 GUYS' ROOM WITH $5.

ON THE WAY THE BELLBOY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO SPLIT $5 EVENLY
BETWEEN 3 MEN, SO HE GAVE EACH MAN A $1 AND KEPT THE OTHER $2 FOR
HIMSELF.

THIS MEANT THAT THE 3 MEN EACH PAID $9 FOR THE ROOM, WHICH IS A TOTAL OF
$27, ADD THE $2 THAT THE BELLBOY KEPT = $29.

WHERE IS THE OTHER DOLLAR?

The men actually paid $27 for the room if you include the bellboy's "tip" then they each got $1 in change (hence $30). The question adds the bellboy's $2 in to the equation twice (once as part of the room fee and then again when it mentions the split) and completely ignores the change given to them so that is the trick in the question.

The 3 men have in fact paid $28. $30 less the $2 that the bellboy kept.

first $30 for the room then - £3 which was given back to the 3 men = $27 and then the bell boy kept the other $2 which then = $25 so no there isn't any money missing.

This isn't a riddle, its bad math!

Subtract the $2 the bellhop kept, don't add it.

The Hotel charged $25, the bellhop took $2, for a total of $27. Each man paid 1/3 of this, or $9.

Hope this helps!

hahahahaah....tricky..... they only paid $25 dollars.... the other $2 was kept by the bellboy..... you should'nt add that to their expense rather subtract it to get their real expense...... 27 - 2 = 25 which is really how much they paid the motel......

It's an old trick this one - so just to liven it up a bit - the money magically burnt up in the air and appeared in my wallet...

Maths tricks are confusing...
