Before starting a weight loss program you should see a doctor to assess your current health and get professional medical advice.

Here is what I did...

1. I got a complete physical from my doctor. I was in good health just overweight.

2. I started drinking 8 oz glass of water before every meal.

3. I started eating slower. No more meals on the run.

4. I stood up right after I ate and stayed standing for about 30 minutes.

5. I started walking more often and driving a little less (short trips).

6. I started working out 3 times a week.. Nothing heavy... just some cardio.

7. I drank less soda.

8. I drank a lot more water.

9. I never skipped meals... in fact, I started having more snacks. but stayed away from cake, cookies, and that stuff.

10. I went dancing sometimes and did other "physical" things (know what Im saying) much more often.

I lost 30 pounds in about 1 year. I would like to lose about 10 more.

My ideas? Try to do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. Work hard, but don't over 60 minutes at a time. Do planks and other abs exercises on alternate days.

On training days, do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.

The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!

Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.

Read magazines like Shape, Womens Fitness, Fitness, etc to get tips and to stay motivated.

Good luck and stick at it. This plan has lost me 20 lbs in 12 weeks so far, just go for it!

If you really want to loose weight don't try any of those commercial diets. They are all meant to fail. They give you a short burst of weight loss but you will always gain it back. If you want to loose weight you only have one option that involves two things. Eating right and exercise.

I'm not saying starve your self because that will never work, your body will crave food and then you will over eat. Just don't over eat and cut down on sweet crap like cookies /soda/cakes and that kind of crap.

As for exercise just do 15 to 20 mins of weight training. This makes your body use more of what you eat and makes your bones stronger. I'm not saying get buff because you might not want that. You can do 5 or 10 lbs for 3 sets of 10 to 15 repetitions.

A lot of repetitions at low weight gives you definition and a lot of weight at low repetitions give you muscles mass.

Good luck

I firmly believe that weight is rarely the problem- it's a symptom of a deeper/bigger issue.

If you're serious about loosing weight, visit your doctor- have him/her check all your hormone levels- cortisol, thyroid, insulin, etc, make sure they're where they need to be. If any of them are out of whack, work with your doc to get them under control.

Next- eat healthy- both quality and quantity! Avoid preservatives, prepared foods. Aim for more natural "whole" foods. Eat your meals slowly- "dine"- enjoy the taste.. Eat till you're satisfied, not till you're stuffed. It takes an average of 15 minutes for the "I'm full" message to get from your stomach to your brain.

Also- drink plenty of water- The new formula for this is- take your weight in pounds, multiply by 2 and that is the number of ounces you need to be drinking each day... for me- I'm 125 pounds... I should drink about 250 ounces/day of water- not sports drinks, not juice, Crystal Light whatever, not alcohol, just plain water.

Keep active- take the dog for a 45 minute walk, play half-court basket ball with your kids, play follow-the-leader with your 6-month-old for 20 minutes every day, park at the far end of the parking lot at work or the store...

Again- work with your doctor to set up something that will work for you.

Best of luck!

excersice, but start slowly and then change your eatting pattern,
like try having very little but in regular intervals, like say if you have one apple in the morning at 8 then you can have one cup of milk at 10 and then keep having something or the other after every interval of 2 to 2n a half hour
dont deny yourself from the type of food but the quatity,

slowly you would adjust and you are not starving also and you don't have to stop any type of food also so it is easy to follow although it is slow but the weight loss shall last life long

Eat smaller portions and reduce your carbohydrate intake. Don't eat pasta, don't use refined sugar (use Splenda, if you need to), drink 100% fruit juices (if you want to drink juice), eat a fruit and a small portion of vegetables with every meal, and drink lots of water. Also, you won't lose a significant amount of weight if you don't incorporate excercise with your diet. You should run (or if you have a gym membership) atleast 3 times a week. If you have large areas of fat, you will also need to weight train to build and tone muscle and protect those areas from become "saggy".

Balance your dietary intake with your calorie requirements and eat smart . Try and eat lots of fruits and salads and drink plenty of water around 15-20 mins prior to your meals so that essentially you fill yourself up on these and intake less of starches and fats . Also you need to exercise regularly
