Land Warrior Gear. What are your thought? Just more stuff to carry?

I'm an old (former) grunt and know the value of carrying light gear but damn bro that stuff looks like a pain in the azz to carry on patrol.

If you are talking about the Land Worrier Gear that has portable notebook at the back and attaching a multi-purpose camera at the top of the M4, and display screen on one eye, I would say, "what a technology! But still not practical enough..."

It is true that you can shoot the gun accurate without explosing your body, but still it lacks the quick usage function, which depends lives on the battlefield.

By the way, as you say, that stuff can make you hit the bed at night.

you and me both know that the brass never let a grunt carry less weight, if rifles and ammo get lighter they just make you carry more of it. At times we used to carry some real shitty loads when we had to bivvy out on an OP, but generally we carried almost nothing compared to today with nbc suits and stuff, hell our combat kit was less than 20 lbs and if you gotta move fast you gotta be light. Our squad strength was usually 4 to 6 swinging *****, we relied on each others skills, not equip.

You should open up an MRE sometime and see what is in that!
What we would do is open them and throw out half the junk in the MRE's (like the crackers that no one likes!) then use duct tape to seal the bag back up. As you know you don't take everything you have on every mission. It depeneds on what the mission is.

And yeah some of it is a pain in the butt to carry!
