Your friends are correct in pointing out that food baked in an OTG is better turned out than in a Microwave with convectional facilities.

Also, even a convectional micro though it does bake you will not be able to use steel pans in them.

I do use my microwave to cook food and I find no difference in taste.

What are your needs?

If you need to make toast, bake a lot of cakes and cookies go in for an OTG. and buy a normal microwave too as I find it very useful not just to heat but even to cook.

I make loads of dishes in the microwave.

Contrary to what a lot of people believe you can really cook in the microwave oven but you do have to learn the principles of microwave cooking. It is a very fast and versatile way to cook if you learn how. There are plenty of microwave recipe books in th elibrary.
