1. They ache due to lactic acid build-up, which is a by-product of muscle cell metabolism during exercise. Drinking a lot of water before, during, and after exercise will help the body flush it out quickly.
2. Part of the process is minute tears in the muscles during exercise that when they heal form bigger muscles.
3. "Old" people can respond to exercise at any age. Obviously, the more debilitated they are when they start, the easier and slower they need to be in the early stages, so as not to hurt themselves. I have lived in retirement communities and can tell you that today's active granny is WAY different than in earlier years. We are living longer and better...but it does take work.
4. The environment affects our health in many ways...it can expose us to toxins that degrade our health OR it can provide us the external stimulation and motivation to exercise.

1. First of all muscles ache after some more intense exercise. This is because during intense exercise the muscle needs energy very quick and oxygen from the blood is not supplied quickly enough and the oxidation reactions do not take place quickly enough to provide the muscle with energy. In the absence of oxygen, glucose is degraded to lactic acid which accumulates in the muscle and causes pain. This generates very little energy. To get rid of the pain do some additional light exercises to force the muscle to use the deposits of lactic acid and transform it into pyruvic acid which in turn enters the energy realizing process called Krebs cycle coupled up with the mitochondrial respiratory chain.
2. when exercise is regular and intense, muscles respond by building more contractile proteins to help cope better with the efforts... that's why muscles grow when lifting weights
3. regular sport and exercise during the entire life coupled up with a well balanced diet
4. pollution is a bad thing and everyone knows it... there are many ways it affects health... i think everyone would like to live in a clean environment

Hey, I'll give it a shot. I actually just read about what makes muscles ache yesterday. Something about lactic acid being released into them if you don't warm up before exercising. Muscles respond to exercise by getting stronger and bigger, and more elastic. Old people can have an active life by staying active, as much as they are capable. Even the very old can walk, and should. The environment can make asthma worse, through pollen spores, thus affecting your health. High humidity can make breathing harder for those who have breathing issues. Too much exposure to sun can cause skin cancer. Standing in a thunderstorm can be fatal to your health, due to the possibility of being struck by lightning. How'm I doin'? Is this for a school report? Do I get recognized for contributing to your paper? Aww come on! Oh well, at least I get two points here. That's better than nothing. <*)))><

muscled ache agter excerise due to the accumilation of lactic acid. when the body cant provide enough oxygen for cellular aeroic respiration, they will have to go with out it, respiring anareobically and producing lactic acid. The more deeply u breathe the faster the pain will go away, and the pain gets increasingly less with regular aerobic exercises. Old ppl can have an active life by starting from the bottom , zero, then going slowly upwards. a 30 minute walk through a green pak is a really good start, and whenever they feel tired they should respond to the message their bodies are coneying: Let me rest!!! the enviroment can affect our health in ways u cant possibly imagine!! The answer is too long!!

1. Muscles ache after exercising because of the production of lactic acid within the muscle fibers. This is a byproduct of glycolysis (a way to form ATP for energy during intense exercise) and when it accumulates in the muscle tissue, it burns.
2. Muscles respond to exercise first by working their sources of ATP and then going through the process of glycolysis to make more ATP after it has exhausted the original supply. Muscles will build more muscle tissue in response to exercise to keep up with ATP production during rest by building from amino acids found in proteins consumed.
3. Older people can have an active life by simply working up to it. Walking several times a week and perhaps playing tennis or golf a few times a week.
4. Environment can affect one's health with respect to altitude, humidity (makes it easier/harder to breathe), smog, etc. It can make a huge difference to live in a place with clean air such as Colorado than to live in a smoggy place such as downtown Los Angeles. Much of it has to do with respiration but other environmental factors such as radiation, etc. can have an impact.

Muscles ache cause you have stretched them lengthwise. It should ache. that means you are doing it right. it happens when you fatigue them. you should do that and increase your weights as your muscles get stronger.
2. Muscles are squeezed when you excercise and squeezing makes you sweat. when you do weights however, it stretches it too.
muscles become strong and increase your metabolism thus burning sugar which gives you energy.
3. old people should have an active life by excercising too.
4. the enviornment can have adverse affects on your health. The chemicals you use on your lawn, smoking, second hand smoke, Using teflon coated pans, using plastic in microwave, eating food that have transfat such as Partially hydrogenated oils.

1. It's because of excessive accumulation of lactic acid which is a metabolic product. 2. Routine exercises increase the tone of muscle. Also as a result of routine exercise, there is increase in blood supply locally, & hormonal effects because of stimulation of endocrine glands, results in increase in the connective tissue in muscles. Thus the size of muscle increase. 3.Routine aerobic exercise, good nutritious food & mental relaxation are the key elements to live good healthy life in any age group! 4.Now a days environment is too much polluted. The toxic components in air, water & food gives rise to formation of what is called " FREE RADICALS" inside our body, which go on attacking the systems at very molecular level, thus can affect at a very cellular level giving rise to many life style diseases.

1. I heard that the reason muscles ache is because of the accumulation of lactic acid. Always remeber to do "warm down" exercises so that you wont wake up feeling terrible the next day.

A hard exercize will cause microscopic tears in the muscles, this is why you feel sore. Muscles are unique in that they repair themselves with more muscle rather than scar tissue.
