Lol!

Its a scam. You have ABSOLUTELY NO ADULT IMAGES on your computer that a popup will find! Ha!

Someone is trying to spread a proggy that, by the sounds of it, will format your HD or even worse, steal important info.

Never download anything that you do not know of its origin. Only download if you are absolutely 100% sure that it is from a trusted source.

Also, never visit a website because someone tells you to via e-mail or YA or anywhere else unless again it is a trustworthy friend. Even with e-mails from friends, make sure first. they can have a virus that e-mails everyone in their address book.

Dont worry about this. Just be on your guard and take the time to learn the advice given about internet safety. If you stop using the internet, you are the loser really. It is a great source of information adn entertainment as well as the worlds largest shopping mall.

Yes, I have had stuff pop up that I did not ask for. The worst was REALLY bad porn and it was so bad I felt ill. Don't worry though, it does not happen very often. Just do not click on anything you do not trust, even if it says it is a virus scanner. Don't use the computer if you are under the influence of alcohol or you will do the wrong thing by accident. Get an anti virus programme installed and use it every time this happens. Don't give up, computers are brilliant.

are you using an anti virus and firewall? if not why not?

agree with an earlier reply consider getting soemthing like spybot or windows defender. If you use spybot PLEASE consider making a payment to them - its free, but they do incur costs which if you make use of their package you "should" contribute to in my view.

consider using a web browser which can block pop up windows (FireFox is one)

Im just guessing that it was a pop up that would take you somewhere, ie it was a come on designed to induce panic and fear to take you to their site.

be disciplined in how you use the web, dont visit sites unless you need to (in 10 years Ive only once visited a porn site and that was becasue I had mistyped the URL, outside of that Ive never had a problem)
dont download anything unless it comes from a trusted source
dont open attchments to emails unless you are expecting that attachment from that person

Im not surprised BT were hopleless, what did you expect them to do - theres nothign wrong with the laptop, there nothing wrong with their service, any problems that are occuring aqre down to you and the way you have set up and used your PC.

It is a trick to get you to download their software then they will send you spam. Dont worry. They say things like that as they know people dont like the idea of having such images on their computers. Many will download the software even though they know they have never visited such sites.

You are quite safe just ignore it.

I would love to know how you are going to get rid of the Internet? The World Wide Web is a plethora of loosely connected, diverse computers all over...

...you guessed it! The WORLD. That's what www stands for.

It is probably a refurbished PC. So if it's not a popup then You got dirty JPEGS on your hard drive. Plug in your floppy drive and enjoy!

Do you have virus software installed? You should have some sort of internet firewall to help prevent spam and viruses. You can download several spyware remover programs that will help delete potential files and registry entries that may be harmful to your PC. Also, don't use Internet Explorer. Download something like Mozilla as a browser as its safer.

First do you use Antivirus Software. If no, then download one right now.

You can avoid such unwanted popups by downloading the toolbar for yor browser from yahoo. Its free and good for all spam and popups..

Maybe you got spyware when you vistited some other website, which is now sending you spam. You should be carefull, because some spam messages like this get worse if you open the mail or click on the pop-up.

But you probably got the spam from your online bingo website.

You can install programs like "Adaware", "Spamguard" or "ZoneAlert".

Did you buy the laptop from new, or was it second hand. If the latter I think you will have the answer as to why you have these images on your machine. Other than that ask your dad whether he has been using your laptop!

And follow the advice given to you by others on here.

Good luck!

Make sure you have a decent firewall, protection program. After that run a scan and make sure there is not stuff hidden on your hard drive. A virus scan wouldn't be that bad either. It happened to me once, someone downloaded a bunch of nasty stuff on my hard drive. If that all comes up clean, then just ignore it.
