How to prevent a cat/dog from shitting at the same location? What makes them go back to the same location?

i have this problem having a dog / cat which like to relief itself infront of my front door. will like to know the ways to prevent the animal from treating that location as it loo anymore.thanks

Go to a pet store at get "Nature's Miracle, stain & odor remover." Its guaranteed. But it also depends a lot on what type of material is at your front door; wood, marble, carpet, dirt, etc? It was the only thing that worked when I was potty training my dog, but you have to make sure to read the bottle carefully. If it doesn't work, you didn't follow the directions correclty.

If the dog can still smell it, he'll continue to go there. Are you sure a cat is using your doorstep as a bathroom? They usually perfer cat boxes, and if it's a wild cat, they still prefer to bury their stuff. Maybe the cat is male and spraying instead looking for some honey action?

What I did to my dog was I gave him a gentle loving smack with my slippers at his mouth instantly as to prevent him for from doing it on the same spot.
Also scolding at him this was bad and never do it again or he will be smacked. I also take him to a backyard or a proper place that he is supposed to do.
Remember, dog has a good sense in scent so you need to make sure you can give a good clean up to the dirty spot.

Most animals sniff the place before shitting... put something that will smell unpleasant for them (peppar?) there. Helped with my cat who always wanted to **** behind the bookcase
