Well gang here is my situation. I got a rear molar that appears to be half remaining and about half gone to the core. It kinda smarts to eat hot or cold food uncarefully with that molar in the state it is, but I can and have managed quite a long while without any attention (a year+) to the problem partially because I didn't have the best dental insurance. The last time I saw a dentist she recomened oral surgery and estimated a cost of it to be about a 1000.00$ so I put it off.

I was half way thinking about just drinking a bunch of Coca-cola whilst brushing excellently on the rest of the teeth I do wanna save as a way to get at that bad tooth out.

You know what the kicker is? I have no wisdom teeth coming. I learned that one too from my last dental appointment because the dentist I saw took x-rays of my entire mouth.

Since the dentist has already taken x-ray and recommends root canal, you should not ignore the advice. However, it always good for a person to be inquisitive but not at the cost of delaying treatment. I had to have two this past year. I had a lot of pain for some reason and the dentist took x rays. He said I had a touch of infection around my root. The pain was the worst part. He said that would take it away. Then I had to have crowns or the "teeth would crack"

I didn't have the greatest luck and I had many visits for both of them. You have one root canal, then the pain isn't going away and he decided it was the tooth in front of it when I was suppose to get the permanent crown. I had the second root canal and had to return in two weeks to have both permanent crowns. It had a gap between small, but big enough to get food stuck in between and I have a lot of different kind of pain and irritating gums, he replaced that crown eventually to have the 3rd one break the same day. I now have another crown.

I would suggest all the options first with the dentist. I had never had one and had been going to my dentist since the 80's. I never questioned him. It cost a lot and my insurance didn't pay for half of it.

There are other reasons for root canals. Here is a website that answers more questions. Best of luck to you. http://your-doctor.com/patient_info/dental_info/dental_disorders/rootcanal.html

A bad tooth" one that is falling apart" tooth will usually require a root canal. You should some research. A root canal usually only lasts for a year or so. So it is wasted money and they can be quite painful! So ask yourself is it worth all that just for a year or so of keeping the tooth!

Infection at the root of the tooth with pus collection is the most important circumstance. I'm not aware of other.
