I called the cops 2 times on my neighbors downstairs for verbal fighting, loud music, and just plain being loud at 1:30AM and again at 2:30AM. Do you think I should still notify the manager / owner about the neighbors downstairs or would have the cops already done that? THanks!!

Depends on the complex. If the board requests to see a monthly, police report for the complex, the names are listed, including the reason for the police call. However, everything changes if you call annonimously, but the cops could not make an arrest as easily.

Just remember, those reports are public records and even you can go pick up a copy of the record of police calls and incidents for that month, just to be sure about what they wrote about. The incident report is one thing, but also you can get the police report, a general summary of who called who, and why, and on what date.

The police will not automatically notify management unless you urge them to do so for some reason. Management will find out only if someone, like yourself, tells them. An other exception may be if the rowdy neighbors have been the source of other complaints, and or police inquiries, and maybe an officer may feel obligated to speak with a manager. But generally....no, you should bring it to their attention yourself.

I feel you have the right to let the owner/manager know what was going on in the building. That way the owner/manager knows what to expect and can literalyy take themout of there if it was to happen again. You just never know if it would!! Manager or Owner should always know what is goin on in the building when the polive or any other type of Government type of people are there for anything.

I'm really not sure if the Police notify the manager or not but he should know whats going on. There are so many inconsiderate people that don't care about anyone but themselves. You pay good rent and you are entitled to peace and quiet at that hr. There are noise ordinances IE. before certain times in a.m. and after p.m. times

The property manager and/or staff members could receive notification of the alleged infraction if they are subpoenaed to testify. Other than that, typically, they will usually not be notified in similar circumstances. It would probably be in your best interest to notify the property manager/owner and inform them personally. If he/she has received other complaints, especially from tenants other than yourself, it would strengthen a potential eviction case that may be in the process of being filed.
