I went through the same thing with my cat, she got out after 4 days as she hated Beening lock in so the 1st opportunity she was gone. However just over 2 weeks later she randomly turned up at 1am at the same window she get out of, id given up all hope and binned her litter tray food etc etc but didn't mind buying it all again to have her back. she had defiantly been looked after by someone as she wasn't skinny and smelt of cat food, I reckon after all this time someone has adopted him, cats are very resourceful and make friends easy when they are hungry.

It has been said that cats choose their owners, not the other way around. But putting it outside was a real bad idea.
As much as they like to be outside, it's in their own best interest to keep 'em in. Traffic won't stop alot of the time, coyotes, raccoons and even some dogs can maul them, and some people are cruel to the critters for no particular reason.
Indoor kitties live healthier and longer than outdoor.
I'm sure your kitty was found by your local animal shelter, or by a neighbour. Check the paper for ads and give the shelter a call.
If you do not have a photo to plaster the neighbourhood with, try a short description with a telephone number...but it is September so kitty has probably moved on to a new household.
If kitty had met with foul play, you'd have probably found out by now. In the worst way possible.
I'm sorry for your loss, but maybe it just wasn't meant to be.

He's been missing all these months and you're only asking now?! I'm confused to why? Aw poor thing. He's obviously been upset by the move and may have found its way back to your old home. Is it far? If not then I would suggest going back and asking neighbours if they have seen it or maybe someone has taken him in? Unfortunately the same happened to us and we never saw our beautiful cat against bless him. We just hope he found a good home. I would recommend putting notices up and advertising around your area and your old neighbourhood. It's worth a try if you haven't done so already. The trouble is if he's been missing since January then your chances are slim. Try not to worry too much, cats are independent and can survive well alone.

That was not his home yet. The outside, at least. He should have gotten out on his own - after at least a month of living inside- under your supervision and explore little by little. He just found himself thrown out in a strange environment. He figured you sent him away for good and run to hide, then he got lost. I suppose you didn't even have a tag on him with your phone. You should feel guilty and ashamed! He probably cannot survive out there alone!

Im sure he will come back. Toms tend to roam off for a few days. My nan had a cat that went off for 2 months at a time, then would reappear on the doorstep looking all manky, stay at home for 6 months then wander off again, so dont worry!

Poor kitty.hopefully he will come back make sure you put up posters talk to neighbors etc. contact all animal shelters and vets offices in your area to see if someone picked him up. talk to radio stations and tv stations and see if they will broadcast your missing cat report.
next time get a large dog crate and a small litterbox to put in there and if he is making a lot of noise and being disruptive etc. put him in there with some water and some toys.

It was probably the fact that you moved house which caused this. He/she was probably very confused and did not see your new house as 'home' but rather his old one. I have heard of cats trying to make their way back to their old homes (altough this probably won't be the case for your cat)
whatever the reason...the important thing is that you find your cat again. So start searching.

Moving places is very undesirable to animals. They are naturally loyal to all people and places. Changing homes or owners is very depressing to them, of course they do not understand why you changed place but it does cause them great sadness. If they find their way back, they will get there, if not , they will keep walking endlessly. Does your cat got a collar with your ID ?

Is there a female cat in heat anywhere and I mean in a 2mile radius. If so that could be your answer he's out on the town. Just check your old address in case he has gone back there.
