unfortunatly yes. people ignore the problems of today and let themselves manipulated towards self-destruction. because they have no idea what they're doing.

the sad part is they don't want to listen when you want to get them out of their ignorance either.

Good question. We are ignorant to some extent & this can make us intollerant of others.
Ignorance in itself is not evil but it can breed misunderstandings which can lead to hatred & ultimately to evil acts - so I would agree with your comment.
You can also judge how much ignorance there is by some of the answers posted on Yahoo QUESTION pages!!!!
Seriously though, we need better education, more understanding & genuine empathy or we are surely doomed as a race.

Yes. Ignorance breeds fundamentalism, baying mobs on the streets and politicians abolishing centuries - old human rights, while at the same time spinning the news to make it seem as if these laws were an inconvenience anyway.

Someone once said that the last act of any democracy will be to vote in a dictatorship. I believe we witnessed that happen back in 2000, in the USA.

No.

Simply being ignorant is not the issue.

Being ignorant and refusing to come out of it despite the comparative ease with which it is possible to do so is.

But then again, who is ignorant and knows he/she is ignorant?
Acknowledging one's ignorance takes some degree of humility. Have you noticed how lack of humility and ignorance go hand in hand?

So, to me, true evil is a combination of ignorance with a lack of humility.
(If you want you can call that TRUE ignorance, not only are you ignorant about things outside you, but also about your own self).

Ignorance is bliss ! ;) Sometimes if you know about everything and think too much, you will get depressed. I like to keep abreast of current affairs but when I see the same tradegies day in day out i try not to watch tv as it just upsets me.

May be.

Some people are tired of watching bad news and so they
close their eyes for everything. I cannot judge them.
If You watch and read the daily news, You get bad feelings,
the stomach is revolving. Too many bad news, nothing fresh
and good and friendly.

No. Ignorance is not necessarily evil at all. Many people are ignorant and NOT evil. You overgeneralize.
