Some of the answers here are really good. I think the point that the Sabbath is calculated in the Jewish calander is a good point. It's much easier to just keep track of one calander instead of two. And with the way our world operates it would be impossible for us to go to church on the actual Sabbath. Another good point that I saw was that we as Christians are not bound by covenant to keep the OT laws. We should keep the basic principles behind the laws, but we are not bound to keep the laws themselves (in this case, the principle is worshipping God regularly, say every seventh day or so).
And I would also like to mention that Jesus' first followers met together on the Sunday to celebrate His resurrection (which they discovered on the day after the Sabbath). I think that some of the Jewish followers still worshipped in the temple on the Sabbath, but they met with their Gentile brothers and sisters on the Sunday to worship together.

Well for one, Christians aren't in God's covenant in that His Sabbath is a requirement. Christians have a "blood" covenant with a Greek figurehead of the Church.
Another reason - God's Sabbath isn't always the Roman Saturday. In fact, God delcared His Sabbath's to be found by the orbit and phases of the moon. Which means His calendar is different from both the Roman Gregorian calendar the world uses and the Jewish calendar created by Hillel II in the early fourth century.

I believe, this has something to do with the belief in the fact that Jesus rose on a Sunday, therefore making that day of the week a day of worship. I think because Jesus did not advocate a changing of the Law, but was "here to fulfill the Law" a Sabbath still had to be kept in order to keep with the Old Testament Commandments and Sunday, the day of worship of Jesus and commemoration of his rise became that day. Since I'm not christian, I invite christians to correct me where I'm wrong and do apologize for any mistakes.

I will tell you why. In +- 300 AD Constantine changed the Sabbath to the sunday. The reason, constantine was a sunworshipper, and even before Jesus, the pagans came together on a sunday to worship their gods, now we have the same thing today. God said when he gave us the 10 commandments to bind them on our hands and foreheads so we can know that God the creator of everything is our God. Satan has changed Gods 4th commandment, and that is his mark, the mark of the beast

i have asked this question from a priest friend of mine before..He is now a vice reactor in one of the diocesan seminary...
i will wrap up the answer with this one...
long before the old testament, it has been implied in the bible that the sabbath will be changed... from the liberation from egypt, the death of the lamb and its resurection....
and enough of those you say, because of constantine, in the council of Nicea, blah blah, the christians has existed way long before this date...the council of NIcea is the gathering of those scattered people of the underground faith that has flourished for centuries... christians did not birth during the council of NIcea... you claim to be intelligent yet you mock things that you are so ignorant........
if you want to have an exact and clear answer, ask the proper person with the right authority, from the flock of those you say as sun worshipper.....
and it has nothing to do with saturday or sunday... and the sabbath in the early times...(based on what i read) but this was not included in the explanation of the priest)

Jesus Christ the Son of God, rose again on a Sunday. That is one of the days I go to church, but I worship Him, seven days a week.
The Bible says: "Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:"
"That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ: that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith." Galatians 3:13 and 14

well it was the catholics ,the pope thought OK Iam descended from peter and anything bound on earth would be bound in heaven etc etc etc so they changed it,the protesters or Protestants for some odd reason maintained it.
But Iam not going to church on the roman sun god day,or rarely any other time, but when I do go I prefer a Messianic Temple.

you know that all Sunday church goers are going to hell right? your special because your gods little brown noser that does everything right, he loves you best, you'll be getting something really special when you die and go to heaven. but if your SDA you dont believe that you go to heaven when you die, nor does hell exist, but like most you may not actually know that.
tired of the sarcasm? get a brain and figure out the point of religion and follow it if that's your thing. Maybe its less about what day as it is about how you live your life. and while your being offend I most likely know more about thee 7th day thing (SDA and EGW, 7th day C of G) than you do and guess what, you go to church on a different day than the every one else but that's the only difference, in fact Sunday goers tend to being a little more "Christ like" than Saturday goers.
and yes I am an agnostic. I believe there is no god but hey I could be wrong.
