"IELTS Examiner Minimum Professional Requirements (MPRs)
1. QUALIFICATIONS
Recognised qualifications are divided into ESSENTIAL and DESIRABLE.
Essential = the minimum qualifications an applicant must have to continue the application process.
Desirable = qualifications which are considered superior to essential qualifications in the IELTS Examiner recruitment
process.
1.1. Recognised Qualifications - essential
· An undergraduate degree or a qualification which can be demonstrated to be equivalent to an undergraduate
degree.
AND
· A recognised TEFL/TESOL qualification at certificate level such as the Cambridge ESOL Certificate in English
language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) or the Trinity College London Certificate in TESOL (CertTESOL).
OR
· One of the recognised desirable qualifications listed in 1.2 below.
1.2. Recognised qualifications - desirable
· A recognised TEFL/TESOL qualification at diploma level, such as the Cambridge ESOL Diploma in English
language Teaching to Adults (DELTA) or the Trinity College London Licentiate Diploma in TESOL (LTCL
DipTESOL).
OR
· Undergraduate degree in education with supervised practical teaching component.
OR
· MA TESOL with supervised practical teaching component
1.3. Other country-specific recognised qualifications
This is a list of qualifications recognised in one particular country and accompanies the MPRs. In-country recognised
qualifications mayor may not be divided into essential and desirable. All centres (IDP: lA and British Council) in the
specified country use the list.
If there is no extra list attached to these MPRs, there are no country specific recognised qualifications."
