Although I am not a practicing Catholic, I was raised in the Roman Catholic church. My hubby of 14 years and I decided to get married in a Catholic church because it would make my parents happy. That is the last time I have been in a Catholic church.

We certainly didn't have to show a civil marriage certificate. I have no idea where you are getting your information, and I am no fan of Catholicism, but you are WRONG. Sorry. I asked my brother just a few minutes ago if he had to show the civil certificate either. His answer was no.

Please get your facts straight.

What they want to see is a marriage LICENSE, which is required by the state and county. Not the church, and a license alone does not mean you're married.

You are confusing the two things.

Sigh.

They want the marriage to be legal by the laws of the land- and not break the law. They also want it legal according to the laws of the catholic church.I think they are like their own little government in many countries. It is that simple.D
