the punishment in the Old testament was normally death by stoning for things that we see as really trivial. Jesus in the New testament asks that we are not to Judge harshly, but to leave it to God to Judge for what we Judge the same will be given to us. I see some one has thought of the text, about little children, but overlooks the word "would be better" that is a symbol like me saying I wish you were dead, I don't kill you when I say that. It just means that the punishment after death will be greater, since if that person commits that act at least they are repenting of the act they have done. Jesus is not saying you should commit suicide He is asking to think of what , harm has been done and repent, since later there is a great Judgment. The woman caught in the act of Adultery was just such a act which at that time was a punishment which was death by stoning. Jesus was asked and He again turned the question and responsibility to the Judges of the act, He who has not sinned may cast the first stone, He knew their hearts, same as He knows ours, they seen what He wrote and were quickly disarmed, He knew more than they expected, and they turned away,He was the only one who had the right to stone the woman, having no sin, but he asked her not to sin again, really to repent, no one can live and not sin again, Jesus knows that, But He asks as to repent of our actions and thoughts before we do harm. Yes there should be punishment for crimes, but we should think what benefits the criminal into a right way of life, Not what punishment satisfies our sadistic nature, then we are just as bad as the criminal

Is killing terror leaders wrong?

The Detroit Free Press
A very, very good question found there. Let's see what is again happening: “Suicide attacks push limits when the bombers are kids” – [Michael Matza – Knight Ridder newspapers]. We were all shocked at what happened there. “Palestinian youth believe that if killed fighting for Islam, they will go to heaven and delight in the company of beautiful virgins” – [World Magazine]. And here you see Hussam Abdu, a 16-year-old boy who had that bomb strapped to his body and he gave up. He did not want to die. Well, “The U.S. blocks U.N. Security Council rebuke of Israel. [USA Today, Bill Nichols & Barbara Slavin]. you know, i am absolutely shocked that they're using children to commit suicide in order to promote their terrorism.
A sheik, Ahmed Yassin, trained these children and they put him to death and everyone is complaining now. Wait a minute! Don't you believe the Bible? The Bible says in the Noahic Covenant, “Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by him shall man's blood be shed”, Genesis 9:5,6. Under the Mosiac Covenant, Exodus 20 verse 13, “Thou shall not kill”. The Hebrew there is murder. Turn the page. “He that smites a man so that he dies shall be put to death", Leviticus 24:17.
This man was training these little children to put bombs in their body and this kid says, “They gave me $25 and told me I'd have 72 virgins”. What would a 16-year-old do with them? He probably wouldn't know what to do. How sad. Yet this man who was killed was behind all of this. What did you say, Jesus? In Mark 9:42, “Whosoever shall offend one of these little children that believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged around his neck and he were cast into the sea.”

Now, that sounds like capital punishment to me. You drop a guy into the sea and he's gone. And the policemen and military men are ministers of God and they bear not the sword in vain, Romans 13:14. That's not for peeling potatoes. I say murderers should be put to death. Even some of these juveniles who are killing everyone around this country.

The new testament disagrees with many mores taught in the old testament, but it also does not attempt to instruct a person how to deal with specific situations as the old testament does.

No, the Old Testament ,you were stoned if you if commited or broke the law based on the 10 comandments. Jesus said he fullfiled the law(he did not do away with it) So after that- you were to remove the wicked man/woman from your mist- to disfellowship, or remove them from rolls. This was to incouraged them to repent(stop doing the wrong and do what was right) this way they could be shown mercy and brought back into the fold.
