It's important that you establish a friendly relationship with a shy guy and see what he thinks of relationships. Try to be a regular companion and gradually engage him in conversations. Try to understand his mentality. If he says no, then you might know why. There is not much reason as to why you should feel hurt if he says no. This might be a risk for you that is worth taking, and if so, there is not much a person can do to feel invulnerable.

Just tell him there's "this and that whatever" activity with some friends on the weekend and if he'd like to hang out with you and he can bring a friend along.. assure him it's not a date if you get the vibe that he's trying to say no.
If he says he has something else planned just say it's ok.. another time then.
So it's not really a no since you didn't directly ask him for a date. But I do hope you get a Yes without complications.

Fear of rejection is universal. so just accept the anxiety and ask him out.
It's like taking a car for a demonstration drive
If that one is not available there are plenty more.
It is good practise no matter what he says
a famous Psychologist ( one of the cognitive behaviour training types ) was a bit of a wall flower and could not approach women.

ask if he has plans this weekend and then try to ask him out and try to get close to him, try to know him better and mkae him feel that you care bout him , lol my friend liked a guy sooooooo much and couldnt ask him out, she went up to him asked him if he could go out telling him it was her birthday(she was actually lying about her birthday)

Try flirting with him and see if he responds. If he responds positively ask him and he'll probably say yes.
