Start by drawing the same thing ten times, but set yourself the task of drawing it ten different ways. Still life, landscape, portrait, abstract, doesn't matter. Break the block by working, let the work lead you, get out of your head and onto paper.

breathing fire.

why not?
alternative:
take dictionary. Open with closed eyes at random and point to a space. You have to paint/illustrate whatever word comes up. Or you can play similar games.

How about doing a painting of a young artist who can't decide? Perhaps you can put him in his studio. Perhaps you can give him too many distractions. In otherwords, a self-portrait of sorts.

Skyscape... full moon.... vaguely reflected on water....
a brook? a stream?.... flanked by shrubs? willows? but
bare.... no leaves.... It's getting cold... so cold.... In the
distance.... one tree.... large and brooding .... with sad
and drooping branches...Beneath it.... small and just
barely visible... a shadow? a dream? a woman? a girl?
....wearing a long gossamer cape.... arms outstretched
to grasp the moonlight..... is she real?......or an illusion?
It's up to you. ( If it doesn't sell.... Halloween decor! )
