Matthew 25:6-13 Right in the middle of the night there arose a *cry,* 'HERE IS THE BRIDEGROOM, be on your way out to meet him.'

Then all those virgins rose and put their lamps in order.

The foolish said to the discreet, 'Give us some of your oil,' because our lamps are about to go OUT.

The discreet answered with the words, 'Perhaps there may not be quite enough for us and for your. Be on your way, instead and to those who sell it and buy it for yourselves.'

While they were going off to buy, the bridegroom arrived, and the virgins that were ready went in to the marraige feast, and the door was shut.

Afterwards the rest of the virgins also came saying, 'Sir open to us!'

In answer he said, 'I tell you the truth, I do not know you.'

"Keep on the watch, because you know neither the day nor the hour."

NOW YOU DO KNOW THE HOUR.

Mark 4:22 For there is *nothing* hidden except for the purpose of being exposed, nothing carefully concealed but for the purpose of COMING INTO THE OPEN.

Orchid...The question is WHY would a prophet give such an announcement???

2006-09-20 21:27:02 · update #4

you are right, we should always apply what we learn, and be ready and prepared..

The point about the CRY...is that...

the announcement that Jesus is going to take action in ...40 days.....

is a fullfillment of the CRY..'MEET the bridegroom.!!'

Tween..

Yes, the Bible definately says, "No one knows the day and hour, only the Father..'

The Bible also says, 'God will not do a thing, unless he has REVEALED his confidential matters to his servants the prophets' Amos 3:7

Mark 4:22 For there is NOTHING hidden except for the purpose of being exposed, nothing HAS BEEN CAREFULLY CONCEALED, but for the purpose of coming into the open. 23) Whoever has ears to listen, let him listen.

And there is NO PROPHECY that will not be fulfilled.

I don't know what point you are trying to make with the parable of the 10 virgins. The meaning of this story is that no one knows when Christ (the bridegroom) will come. We all have to prepare ourselves. We can not borrow from someone else when the time is at hand. If we try to play catch-up at the time of the wedding feast, we will not be admitted. So this lifetime is the time to prepare. We need to be working on it every day and not put it off.

For it is written in the book of Matthew regarding the second coming of Jesus Christ our Bridegroom who will take up His bride, the church, "But no one knows of that day and hour, not even the angels of heaven, but my Father only."

Anyone who claims to know the hour or the day that the Bridegroom is to return is a FALSE PROPHET and their SINS WILL FIND THEM OUT!

Not sure what your question is.

All these verses you list are telling us to mind our own business but at the same time to keep looking over our shoulder because we have no idea when Jesus will come for us. It could be years from now or right now!

I seriously doubt Mathew wrote this story probably coined by some religious scribe a hundred years after the fact but their are better writers in our own time without religious indorsement that you probably don't even notice.do yourself a favor steer clear of religious lunatics it's a youthful fools fantasy to over react!

"Prophets" predict anything that suits their fancy. "By their fruits shall you know them." You didn't say who your prophet is or give any sort of indication what sort of person he is. I will wait 40 days and see if anything special happens.
