a bald eagle is still on the endangered list unless it recently upgraded to protected species list. Most of the time if there is a bald eagle in your area there will be two, they mate for life, and are being monitored by eagle reasearchers. If you have killed one, accident or not, it needs to be reported to the local wildlife officer. Just like if you hit a moose and kill it with your car when it runs out in front of you, you should again....report it, as a car is not a viable hunting weapon and its probably not moose season (such incidents usually are reported as accidents but can be pressed for poaching and animal cruelty. It's the Fish and Wildlife Enforcement's Duties to assist in that regard.
Oh, and if you are suspected by the law for trafficing drugs, don't keep an illegal kill on your property. The Fish and Wildlife officers have the loophole law to search your property for evidence of poaching without a warrant, should they see anything else illegal or suspicious, they can report their findings to the investigating officers for drug paraphenalia and then thusly a warrant now has legal footing for a search and seizure clause. In these circumstances where they have searched your proprty for illegal poaching evidence and run across a stash of pot, no warrant is needed.
Good luck, with that eagle.

The bald eagle is a protected species, and if killed or found dead you are to report and turn over the body to the local natural resources dept for them to document and see if the eagle was killed by people or natural causes. It is a CRIME to not obey those laws....hope this helps you.
