Yes. Humans are made up of body, soul and spirit. The body, consists of flesh, blood and bones, is the "house" in which the soul and spirit reside. Our souls are characterized by mind, will and emotions. Our spirits are characterized by conscience, intuition, and communion.
Following is an answer which I gave to another question similar to yours:
There are scriptures in the Bible which corroborate life after death. Hebrews 9:27 says, "...it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgement." Romans 14:10 says, "...we shall all stand before the judgement seat of Christ."
And, speaking to believers, "Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but, we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is." I John 3:2 And again, in I Thessalonians 4:16-17, "For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord."
Also, in I Corinthians 15:51-54, "Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory."
I suggest you read the Book of Revelation where there are several descriptive passages. These give glimpses, but in I Corinthians 2:9 we are told, "Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him."
God bless you. I hope this helps.

We are always afraid of the things that we dont know.. We are just very uncomfortable with it.. And thats the reason why we are always afraid of the greatest mystery of our lives, our death. I dont believe that we cease to exist with our death, and that death is the end of everything. I really dont believe that we are on this earth for nothing. If we really die and cease to exist forever, then nothing has meaning.. There are things beyond us, which cannot be given any explanations what so ever.

We came to this world from a state of absolute blissfulness, from a spiritual realm, where we existed in union with the whole (God). There we waited for our turn to be born into the world as humans. We are here inorder to experience, the humanness , to experience how is to live in a physical world, therby gaining purgation of our spirits and finally to return where we came from. The very moment that we are born into this world, we forgets our pre-existence as spiritual beings, the memory is wiped away so that we’ll have to begin everything new. We chose to have everything as we have now , spirits who desired a higher purgation chose to be born with miseries, and each were given a chance to choose their life.

Our Being constitutes of three elements. Body Spirit, and the soul. Soul is the supreme element in us. Soul is unchangeable. No matter what we do, it would remain the pure. Soul is God.It is the soul which is identified as our self. It is the realisation of self that would lead us to the salvation.

Where as Spirit is the individual aspect of the whole( God, Self). Spirit will be unique for each one us. According to the actions that we do our spirit gets bounded in this earth, resulting in the cycles of birth and deaths. After the cycles of death/rebirths our spirits attain perfection. It would no longer be bound to world and its desires ,but the perfected spirit lives with a oneness with God while living in this world. Then the cycle is broken. The spirit returns where it came from, and becomes one with whole.

Iv found this site very interesting. It is the experiences of people who had a Near Death experiences. If u are interested go through it too..its very interesting.Eventhough its a bit too lengthy its really worth reading.

Gen 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Ecc 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

Ecc 9:5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.

Act 2:29 Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulcher is with us unto this day.

1Th 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
1Th 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Dan 12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

Rev 20:5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
Rev 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
Rev 20:7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,
Rev 20:8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
Rev 20:9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

Truly..read the Bible and find out for yourself.
BibleGateway.com
You can read or listen to it being read to you. Start with 'John 1'
and read the whole book. Decide for yourself.

There are some really rude people answering questions about religion. They are only looking for the truth but are putting Christianity down because they have some personal reason for not wanting to give in to the truth,

This answer will receive lots of thumbs down, please don't let that stop you from making an informed decision.

Yes there is a spirit. Your spirit is your essence. Your body is physical. The two together is the soul. When you die the body and spirit are separated and according to Jesus your spirit goes to Paradise until the Judgment.

We are made up of body, soul, and spirit. If you receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior, God will replace your spirit with a new spirit, the Holy Spirit. If you remain faithful and obedient to that Spirit, God will give you eternal life in Heaven. If you refuse the presence of God in your life by rejecting God's Son. You will be eternally separated from God. I hope that you take heed.
