Verse 14. Cast them off - They would not suffer them to instruct the Israelites in the worship of God, nor to go up to Jerusalem to worship in their courses: and these priests would not join with them in the worship of the calves, as they were commanded to do; and therefore they, willingly forsook all their patrimonies and possessions for God's sake. No secular advantages whatsoever should detain us there, where we are in danger of making shipwreck of faith and a good conscience.
Verse 15. High places - Or, for the high places, both for the devils (the Baals, or false gods, which divers of his people worshipped, whom he encouraged to do so, giving them liberty to do anything but to serve God at Jerusalem) and for the calves. So he erected two sorts of high places, some for Baal, and some for the true God, whom be pretended to worship, in and by the calves.
Verse 16. Set their heart - Such as loved and feared God in truth.

(2 Chronicles 11:14) For the Levites left their pasture grounds and their possession and then came to Judah and Jerusalem, because Jer·o·bo′am and his sons had discharged them from acting as priests to Jehovah.
The Levites were assigned by God himself to be priests from father to son. Hereditary. Jeroboam was going against God's commandments by asking them to do other jobs,

Yes. The Levites(name of a people group) left their properties and moved to Judah and Jerusalem (other suburbs/towns) because they had been dismissed (fired) from their jobs as priests by Jeraboam as he had set up worship to idols rather than God. If you read whole of chapters 10, 11 and 12 you will understand context.

This is after the split between Israel and Judah!
The Israel King Jeroboam, became pagan! Causing about 1/2 of the Levites to move back to Judah! This just before God divorced Israel!

smh73448,
Jeroboam = bad guy took the priests out of service.
Rehaboam= good guy, got them back along with the obedient Israelites from the northern area.
Some people miss that. That There was a split, and the Northern part of Israel was the House of Israel, and the Southern part was the House of Judah, each having their own king.
A far cry from what Vancouver-snuggy was saying. Where the f' did he get what he just said? What a noob.

It's saying that the priests that were chosen by God (the levites) had to leave home because Jeroboam had dismissed them from the priesthood of God and replaced them with his own priests.

I cannot explain an alleged 2000+ year-old event reported by an unknown reporter who may have written his observations years after the fact, later edited, translated and corrupted by unknown men with personal agendas.
However, I'm sure some brainwashed religious fanatics can conjure up some lame explanations to suit their false conceptions
