The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has issued instructions to provincial governors and police chiefs to conduct a census of all immigrants living in Cambodia and expel those who entered the country after 1975 and have no documents to prove they are here legally."

I agree with you that this is not a comparison of economies.

Yes, even poor countries take a much more firm stance against illegal immigration than our country does. Amazing, isn't it? I wonder if they have a backlash in their country from "pro-illegal immigrant supporters" along the lines of, "But we will starve without our illegal immigrants doing jobs us Cambodians don't want to do," or, "But they just want to make a better life for their families," or, "You're ALL just racist!!" Etc.
