Leprechauns existed long before the Christians came to Ireland.
They may be the remnants of the De Danan that went into the body of Ireland after their defeat by the Millisans.unlike their predecessors that fled to other lands when they were defeated..
A news letter was published saying that a dwelling place was discovered after a storm peeled back the top soil and exposed it . due to its size anyone living there would have to have been quit small to navigate the passages of connecting tunnels.
And a small shoe had been found in a another county that did not belong to any known dolls and showed signs of wear and repair.

St Patric's Day is a hate crime against celts and druid. Leprechauns are a by product of what druids and other pagans thought of spirits that inhabited the land.
St Patric was credited for driving the snakes from Ireland but the so called "snakes" were actually the druids. Christians preach about not killing to trick their enemies before they kill them.

How do you figure it was Christians period? It is folklore. It is made up. Who knows, your ancestors could have made them up. Give the Christians a break man and find someone else to pick on. I am proud to be a Christian. I don't know what you are or care for that matter. However, do you see me bad mouthing your beliefs... nope. I keep my opinion about religion to myself until provoked to stand up for what I believe in. Have a great day.

Well, if you look at Ireland from a historical perspective, it wasn't exactly the richest nation in Europe. Weighed by British taxation and a potato famine, you'd expect an oppressed people to conjeur up dreams and fantasies about pots of gold and magical creatures.
