Death with dignity is NOT about pumping people full of poison so we don't have to take care of them anymore!!! It's about not letting your loved ones linger on in pain you and I can't even begin to imagine, with bedsores to the bone, praying for realease from suffering with every waking moment. Why do people do this to their family members? When I'm old and sick, I hope my kids love me enough to let me go, instead of sticking me in some home so they can visit once a month and tell themselves they're doing the right thing letting me live in misery and with the embarrassment of somebody having to do all the personal care for me.

Dignity is a form of pride. I would assume that dying with your dignity means that you do not die in such as way that is considered cowardly or selfish, but rather to die in a respectful way (such as putting your life on the line).

Well, what it is referring to is allowing a person to decide when to die. Hospice will aid a person in that area. If a person is terminal, letting you die with dignity means you get to pick the time.

I never understood the term death with dignity. There is no dignity in death, regardless of how one dies. Death, regardless how it comes, is the ending of life.

To an uninformed person, it might seem to mean that the dying person is kept comfortable and provided with love and companionship while dying. However, apparently the real meaning is that a terminally ill person is poisoned to death so we don't have to take care of them anymore.

To me it means letting someone die when The GOD wants him or her to die and not prolonging it by putting them on a machine for weeks just to prolong and drag things out!
