If you don't wash your hands after touching the poop, and then put your hands to your mouth, as in eating..Yes, you can..
As you never know when a dog might have poop in his hair/coat, you should always wash hands after petting the dog before eating or preparing food...The same goes for human poop..it is why you wash your hands after going to the bathroom..You can get E-coli from yourself..

E coli is a VERY common bacteria you can get it from your dog, your neighbor, washing the bird poo off the car........ Its why you cant drink the water in Mexico - note: the people in Mexico become immune thats why they can drink the water. Its a known fact that farm families become immune to the e coli carried by their herds/flocks - I bet (but dont KNOW)it can happen with your dog.
