I know of a couple who are taking an extended vacation (2 Months) in Thailand. One is an American Citizen the other is Europen. I am wondering if they will be able to get out. They are in rural Thailand and no one has been able to contact them.

Neither of them speek any languages of Asia.

I only see people asking questions about going on their vacation into the bombed area. I do not see anyone concerned about getting out.

Does anyone know if there are flights goind out of Bangkok? Do people know if the USA is doing evacuations like they did in Lebanon? What are other countries doing for their citizens?

My impressions come from the news I recieve from TV. I understand from school a Coup is a violent take over. When I hear of bombings it does not sound good. I read on answers that the TV and Newspapers in Bangkok have been stopped. This is why I am concerned. They cannot speak the language. They are multi lingual, but do not speak Thai or any of the Asian lauguages.

I only know what info I can get. It does not sound good. I am just asking because I am trying to understand. I am working with what little information I have. Be it correct or incorrect I was hoping I could get some better information via the net.

They can stay. Flights are continuing on schedule. It's got nothing to do with foreigners so they will not be harmed. I doubt there is much out of the ordinary happening outside of Bangkok. In any case, if there was any violence the king would would order them to stop it.

I'm afraid you get you facts wrong. To liken Thailand now with what happened in Lebanon recently is preposterously ludicrous. There is NO WAR going on in Thailand at the moment. What happened was just a coup to remove a corrupted prime minister. And the coup so far is peaceful, popular and most of all bloodless. No gunshot,no bombings and no evacuation. Ordinarly folks goes about their business as usual. And foreigners are allow to enter or leave the country legally without any restrictions whatsover. Flights operations are going on normal.Maybe you have confused this coup detat with a recent bombing in Southern Thailand which killed one canadian. The unrest in Southern Thailand is a different matter altogether. In south Thailand some discontent muslims are trying to destablise the Thai government by detonating bombs on several occasions .And their actions are confined only to South Thailand. But what happened a few days ago in the capital Bangkok was merely a peaceful coup with no reports of any injuries let alone human casualty. The current crisis is fizzling out fast as the King has swiflty came out to endorse the military openly.Furthermore the military has declare it has no intention to remain in power any second longer than it is necessary by annoucing a caretaker government to be form in 2 weeks time. So I'm quite certain your friends out there are safe and sound.

There is absolutely no need for concern. Life has quickly returned to normal after a one evening event. Don't know where you got your impressions, but there has been absolutely no violence.
All incoming and outgoing commercial flights are operating normally as they should be.

yes, it is their 18th coup it is supported by the King.
It isn't a break down in order at all, life will just go on, if i was going on a holiday there i would still go, nothing to do with foreigners, no one will die no one will get hurt.

Love generator is correct. The problem is your friends might get stone from pot, and couldn't walk out to the airport.
