i believe in god and have been saved and baptized. i sometimes pray and go to church, but I hate to see these christians who stand on the side of the road with signs and stuff(saying how "this is wrong blah blah"). sometimes i wonder if they are the real christians, and im not because i would never do or say anything like that.

im afraid that i might be wrong. and that believing and being saved isnt enough. does anyone get what im saying?

Those zealots believe they are 'good christians' because they are following there beliefs to the letter.

You are a good christian because of your moderation.

In these days, religion is less important than it was and so moderation is probably the key to being a good christian.

I think being tolerant of other faiths, other races, other sexualities will make you a good person and if you are also a christian, then a good christian.

Do you think god really wants people to picket funerals of gay people with placards announcing "GOD HATES FAGS" etc. No!

You say that you believe IN God. Does that mean that you believe that God exists and created everything? If that's it, then you are not saved. Believing in God means this and more- you know His laws and obey every single one, when you don't you confess and reconcile with God and sin no more. You teach others about God, you attend church every Sabbath, you don't gossip, swear, give the finger to another driver, you don't cheat on anything that is possible to cheat on, you don't think badly of others but when you see someone doing wrong you either help them to do right or pray for them, etc. There is a lot to the simple statement "I believe in God". People that hold signs maybe telling you the right things or not. You must search for the Truth according to God, not man. And follow the Truth to be a good Christian.

Good luck and God bless!

The Bible says that we will know that we have passed on from death unto life when we have a love for the Brethren. If you do not love the people in the Church, watch out! This is a red warning flag! The reason why you should love these people is because you should have the same Spirit that they have. I definately would search your soul and question your salvation. If you are not sure, receive ye the Holy Ghost. It is the Holy Ghost who will change you by the renewing of your mind in Christ Jesus. I did the salvation prayer when I was 19 for fire insurance. I did not live my life for God and I did not want to either. 20 years later, my life was a COMPLETE mess! What happened to me? I did the prayer, I believed in God, I did my best, but now what? I went to a Pentecostal Church and 3 months later I received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost, but nothing happened to me until 3 days later. That is when I prayed in tongues, then BAM! God came into my life! Then I had a desire to read my Bible and to go to Church. I believe that the Holy Ghost entered my life when I asked HIm when I was 19, but the manifestaion of the Spirit did not take FULL root until I surrendered my tongue to the Holy Spirit. Now it has been almost 8 years now since the Holy Spirit came into my life and I am so grateful. I now love other true Christians who have God's Spirit abiding in them. God delivered me from cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, depression, codependency, despair and brought me a good wife, all in one night as if I NEVER was addicted to these things. I became a new creature in Christ.

If God told you to go stand on the street corner with a sign and you did, then you're a good christian. If God told you to show your faith through the life you live and others see Jesus through you, then you are a good christian. God would never ask of you what He doesn't give you the strength and grace to accomplish.

Although, I don't know who's standard your trying to measure up to. The bible says that we've all sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and it is through faith that we are saved.

So, if you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal savior, then you are saved. It can't be undone.

Read the Bible more often, go to a Bible Preaching Church, The Joy of the Lord is my Strenght. Being a Christian should never be a burden, or a chore, or a guessing game. All the answers are in the Bible. Men still make choices, they have a free will. Besides, many will come in His name, and are ravening wolves. Get covering, get involved in Church fellowship, they will help you with your questions. those that persevere will inherit the kingdom of Heaven.

1Jo 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

Remember, God doesn't ask us to rebuke those unbelievers for sin, what shall that change? We must uplift and show them the love of Jesus to convert them. We should however talk to Christians who are in sin and point them out, not as a judge but as a loving brother. Remember the good samaritan? That parable has 2 sides. One side is if you see the unsaved and try not to tell them of Jesus, you do not love your neighbour. If you see a Christian friend who is in sin and who doesn't realise it, the loving thing to do is point it out, a true Christian accepts rebuke.

I mean all i just said is summed up by this proverb;

Pro 9:8 Reprove (or correct) not a scorner (or a mocker), lest he hate thee: rebuke (or correct) a wise man, and he will love thee.

But remember take the mote from your eye before you take out the speck, in other words, if your in rebellion from God (sin) work out your own salvation with Jesus, before you reprove others.

God Bless!!!

If you don't mind my saying, you should not be asking or concerned with whether or not any human being thinks you are a good Christian. Every single person has their own interpretation of a "good" Christian. The only one who's opinion matters is God.

Well, there are militant Christians -- justified in everything they do. Righteous and full of vim and vigor. I'd like to see them in their homes eating huge full plates of food and stuffing themselves.

Find your own path and walk in the Light. We are here to praise God. The walk is one of Love and just let the others "do their jobs" if that is what they feel they must do. The walk of a christian is really a walk alone -- one on one, with God. Trust they will find peace someday with the world around them.

Well, believing and being saved is only the beginning. As a Christian we are called to holy. "but just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: 'Be holy, because I am holy.'" 1Peter 1:15-16. Some basic things that you can do to grow in holiness would be to read your Bible everyday without fail, obey God's commands, pray often, and have a revered fear of God.

All christians show their faith in their own way. Do you admit to it? Yes. Do you try to do things the way God would want you too? If someone needs a shoulder with faith in their heart, are you there? A person does not have to flaunt their christianity to be a christian but they do need to live it. My mom always said you can't straddle the fence, it's barbwire. ouch!
