I don't think it goes much beyond Christianity and Islam. Of course, they represent 2/3 of the earth between the two of them.

as far as i know, eternal damnation only appears in two religions - christianity and islam. so no, its not a common trait of many religions. go read something.

This is a Catholic teaching. It is not supported by the Bible. Example; What is the condition of the dead? answer;(Ecclesiastes 9:5-6) For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten. 6 Also, their love and their hate and their jealousy have already perished, and they have no portion anymore to time indefinite in anything that has to be done under the sun.
For any 'damnation' to be effective, surely they would have to be AWARE of it.

Most popular religion is based in fear. Through out the years, ruling classes have used religion as a means to control people.
If you ain't a good person you know you will go to Hell, is a good George Bush mantra.
Some early cultures recognized that it usually included that your family could also responsible for your sins. The sons of a father may also have been liable for the sins of their father, especially if the father owed money.

The Christian faith believes that if you do not accept Jesus into your heart, and repent of your sins, you will be eternally damned, even if you are a sweet person, without salvation, you will not inherit the Kingdom of Heaven, have you read the Bible, ever?

Because all the other religions including Jehovah Witnesses, muslims ect. copied what God wrote and put their tainted spin into it.

it's supposed to be. Most religions were formed from one main religion.....the difference of christians and catholics and others (in this regard) is that our messiah arrived.
