My 3.5 month old pit had his ears cropped yesterday and I'm supposed to remove the bandages from his ears tomorrow morning (that's what the vet instructed me to do). I was planning on taking him back so that the vet will remove it instead of me.

I'm sure the vet will do it for you, but it evidently wasn't figured into the price of the surgery..so would likely be the additional price of an office call..It won't hurt to call and ask..

Listen to the advice of your vet. Call just to double-check before you do this, however. Depending on the crop style, you may need to leave them on longer. If they are cropped very short, then remove the bandages as instructed to allow the skin underneath to breath. If you are not comfortable removing the bandages yourself, then by all means take the pup in to get them done by a vet tech (vets usually don't remove bandages).

Do what the vet says...after all he is a vet. Unless he starts messing with his ears, they should be fine. If he does call the vet and they will give you a cone for him to wear. If you don't feel comfortable taking them off yourself though, I'm sure the vet tech will be happy to do it. Also it's a good idea to have them make sure the ears are okay anyway. Just know they may charge you again.

dont know pits crops but with danes the vet will do the "posting" at the time of the surgery then not remove it for at least 10 days. then take them down ,take out the stitches and clean the ears and repost for another 2 weeks. and repeat until the ears stand at about6 months for danes. prob 41/2 for pits b/c the crop is so much shorter. call your vet before you do it. it is included with a crop. 1 post , that means stitches out and the first posting included in the price of the crop. stand firm! your right!!!

Just remove the bandages save yourself some money. The vet knows your capable of removing them, or they wouldn't have told you to do it. If you return doggy to clinic...the vet will charge you to do what you can do at home.

hmmmm, is the pup going to have splints in his ears to hold them up while they heal? two days being bandaged doesn't sound to me like enough time.
