Yes, many people use religion to control people and yes many are controlled. But others use religion to improve their lives. Religion has done a lot for many people, and yes, I wouldn't be in a religion if I allowed others to teach me, because it seems seemly dense from the outside. You have to study religion independently to get the real intellectual jewels of it. Of course the Higher Being is not a man in the sky.

The only true source of power in the universe is God, who simply spoke everything into existence, from nothing.
Since he's also my Father, my Brother, and my soul, I can request that power for any good purpose, and count on God to come through for me.
No crossed wires. The power of the Cross!

I like to view the religious as seekers of truth. There are many truths.
When people get together on issues, there is political power. When religions trample upon the views of others then that would be an abuse of power.

Yup.
The Pope for one. He definitely had his wires crossed. Which made a lot Muslims cross at him.
All religious leaders know is that they are in power. That's it. How they plan on using it, is a totally different matter.

for Lynds...There is only ONE truth. Not many find it. (Matthew 7:13) “Go in through the narrow gate; because broad and spacious is the road leading off into destruction, and many are the ones going in through it;
for apostle Jeff...The word 'ghost' does not occur in the Bible. It is 'holy spirit'. And IT is not a person or entity, but is Almighty God's POWER. That is why throughout the Bible, IT is not given a personal name. e.g. Gabriel, Michael etc.

Selling Miracle Prayer Cloths on TV is supposed to be powerful, according to the Televangelists selling them. Donating a couple buck for a prayer request makes their prayers more powerful and, I think I could go on and on but I'm really getting tired and think I'll go to bed. Nite!

What are RELIGIOUS PEOPLE to you? What exactly do you mean by that?
Do you mean people who believe in God? If yes, then I have to say YES, they do understand power - the power of the love of God.
AMEN! and God bless you!

we understand and comprehend about spiritual power, the divine provider... but we don't have our wires crossed. we try to unlock it so as for people to understand and respect our ways as much as we do theirs...

I understand God made everything including your freedom to think and believe whatever you want. What more power is there than that?
