The children of undocumented workers are getting higher levels of education. They are the doctors, politicians, and bussinesspeople of tommorrow. They will one day change the idiotic laws against undocumented workers. And do you know what their first step in society will be? LEGALIZING their parents! What do you say to that?

i say that immigrants know very well the difference between having not oportunities and having a lot of them so i am not surpriced they are usually the ones with the better grades .

i also sure that many who are really smart drop out because they feel they will not be able to go to college anyways so they do not feel motivaded to continue which is really sad . if they were given the opportunity i am pretty sure they would not feel that way .

it sickens me that many of them come from very poor places in mexico where they can't really show all their potential and end up not being able to continue their studies in the country which calls for the poor and we call the land of opportunities .

WE CAN'T be a great global city,” says Antonio Villaraigosa, “if we lose half of our workforce before they graduate from high school.” The hyper-energetic mayor of sprawling Los Angeles is stating the obvious. A low graduation rate from the giant Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) feeds through into fewer skilled workers, more criminals and every social ill in America's second-biggest city, from drug abuse to broken families.

For example, at Wilson Senior High, a school perched on a hill above blue-collar East Los Angeles, the academic year started with well over 3,000 students. There are now around 2,800 (the number fluctuates as families move in and out of the district) of which some 93% are Latino, 5% Asian and just over 1% black. Only one in 200 is a non-Hispanic white. Factor in poverty (three-quarters of the students qualify for free meals) and family backgrounds in which English is often an unknown language, and academic excellence becomes an improbable target.

Really? Last I heard hispanis had like a 50 percent rate of dropping out of highschool. The highest of all races in America. Now I'm not saying it's impossible for them to become doctors and lawyers. But I'm saying that I think your statistics are WAY off.

I don't know of anyone who is anti-immigrant. We are anti-illegal immigrants, you know, criminals. My mother's grandparents came here from Mexico LEGALLY.

Where oh where does your sense of entitlement come from? Could it be you should be angry at the Mexican government, not the citizens of a once friendly neighboring country? I really don't get your mentality.

My tax dollars are paying for your education, healthcare, housing, etc. and I resent the hell out of it. And I am working very diligently to make it stop.

I say it's ridiculous.

Anchor babies should not be here in the first place. In Europe, there is no such thing--if a child is born of an American in Germany, for example, he or she is considered an American, not a German. Let's change our laws.

Let these kids be doctors in their own countries, where they belong. The real question: why don't these people make their own countries great? Have they no patriotic pride? Have they no ambition to improve THEIR people instead of just sucking up our tax dollars? If their countries are ruled by oppressors and oligarchies, let them change it. Other countries have changed their political and economic systems. Why not Mexico, for example?

no one is against legal immigrants, illegals are breaking the law, taking jobs from Americans, using money from programs intended for Americans. enough is enough. i won't even go to McDonald's anymore. the workers are all illegals, they can't even process my order. someone should tell McDonald's why no one wants a big mac anymore.

I am not anti-immigrant! I am against illegal immigration. This country is supported by our tax system. If you are not paying in you should not reap the benefits. Since 9/11 I want to know who is entering my country strictly for security purposes. If you are here with permission, documented and paying taxes I will welcome you or anyone else. Truth springs from argument amongst friends. -David Hume

Racism is sick. Isn't it interesting that people in the U.S. can be so AGAINST illegal Mexican immigrants AND be supportive as taxpayers to the tune of approximately $30,000 U.S. taxpayer "aid" every year for every man woman and child in Israel who are illegal immigrants in Palestine?
