if a condom was found a week after it was worn and there is sperm inside. would the process of decomposition be called rotting or decaying?
I'm being very serious.. so please clarify this for me. What's the actual term.. does the condom rot or decay, also?

I'm asking on a medical term basis. I don't have a condom and this didnt happen. It's in reference to a paper I have to write. And I'm stuck.
I'm actually married and my husband and I don't use condoms.

The condom will degrade overtime when exposed to the elements. Degradation means:
1. the act of degrading.
2. the state of being degraded.
3. Physical Geography. the wearing down of the land by the erosive action of water, wind, or ice.
4. Chemistry. the breakdown of an organic compound.
Condoms are made from latex. Latex is an organic material straight from the rubber tree.
The sperm inside would decompose. Decompose means:
1. to separate or resolve into constituent parts or elements; disintegrate: The bacteria decomposed the milk into its solid and liquid elements.
–verb (used without object) 2. to rot; putrefy: The egg began to decompose after a day in the sun.

The condom is latex so it does not rot or decay. The sperm would decay as oppose to rot

sperm would dry up and latex breaks down but I think rot or decay is a biological process so only living things, or things that were alive at one time, like lunchmeat can do it. i think. your room must stink.

the sperm decay because they are organic matter and the condom degrades because it's non-organic but most people use the words interchangeably
