For starters, gold does not burn up and turn into gold salts. Ash does not melt and turn into glass. Sand does.

it is not necessarily evidence of god raining down fire, there could easily be another explanation that hasn't been discovered yet. over time, many pieces of 'evidence' have been proven false. just because there is not an answer at this time, doesn't mean there won't be.
i am not an atheist, but i also believe in science. so many religious stories have been disproven, but quite a few have been proven to exist, in some form at least. the debate is pointless, as no one will know until they are dead, and then it's too late.

You may remember a prof. who wrote a book that said 1700 America there were almost no guns, that all guns were imported from England.
He is no longer teaching as I understand it, and his book has been discredited, but they continue to try to rewrite!
