Vs.2- " Do ye not know that the Saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters."

Vs.3-" Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life."

1If any of you has a dispute with another, dare he take it before the ungodly for judgment instead of before the saints?
2Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases?
3Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life!
4Therefore, if you have disputes about such matters, appoint as judges even men of little account in the church![a]
5I say this to shame you. Is it possible that there is nobody among you wise enough to judge a dispute between believers?
6But instead, one brother goes to law against another—and this in front of unbelievers!

7The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated?
8Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, and you do this to your brothers.
I Corinthians 6:1-8 NIV

Here the case is made that Christians can "judge" each other to resolve matters rather than do wrong in the eyes of unbelievers.

This is made clear by reading I Corinthians 5:12-13 NIV
12What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside?
13God will judge those outside. "Expel the wicked man from among you."

I'm a Hindu and I can read all this and get the message, why try to single out two verses and twist the message and point that Paul was stating? Clearly he is not concerned with Christians judging "outside" and "unbelievers", here he is telling the Corinthians that they must judge inside amongst believers. If one starts at I Corinthians 5 and reads all the way to the end of I Corinthians 7 the entire point is made (5 dealing with the immoral members, 6 dealing with lawsuits between each other, and 7 with sexual immorality altogether).

Vs.1-Dare any of you, having a
matter against another, go to
law before the unjust, and not
before the saints?

Vs.4-If then ye have judgments of
things pertaining to this life, set
them to judge who are least es-
teemed in the church.

Vs.5-I speak to your shame. Is it
so, that there is not a wise man
among you? no, not one that shall
be able to judge between his brethren?

Vs.6-But brother goeth to law with
brother, and that before unbelievers.

You can't just pick one or two verses out, usually you need to take along the verses before and after so you can understand what it is actually saying. Here it is saying that Christians should look within the church (in Bible days) to find a JUDGE.

You know they get the idea that we are not supposed to judge from Luke 6:37 "Judge not, and you shall not be judged..." The world often takes this verse out of context and uses it to accuse Christians of being "judgmental" when they speak of sin. In the context of the verse Jesus is telling His disciples not to judge one another, something the Bible condemns (Romans 14:10; James 4:11). In Luke 6:41,42 He speaks of seeing a speck in a brother's eye. In John 7:24 He said, "Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment." If someone steals, lies, commits adultery or murder, etc., the Christian can make a (righteous) moral judgment and say that the actions were morally wrong, and that these sins will have eternal consequences.

A few things:

1) These verses refer to the judgment that will take place at the end of all things. More precisely, it is Christ who will judge, through His saints - i.e. they will carry out the judgment that is written. As it is written in the Psalms, "The high praise of God shall be in their mouths, and a two-edged sword shall be in their hands to do judgment among the heathen" and so on.

2) The carrying out of judgment will not be by some kind of "court" or decision that the saints make - it will be by their example. In other words, by being held up to them as to a standard, those who are not worthy of the heavenly kingdom will be judged and condemned when they see the righteousness of the saints.

3) There is a huge difference between "judgment" spoken of in a legalistic sense, and "discernment", which is the proper understanding of these passages in their proper context. In other words, when St. Paul talks about "are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters", and "How much more the things that pertain to this life", he is talking about having the proper Christian discernment to live the life in Christ, to avoid the things that lead to spiritual harm and sin, etc. This is different from the kind of "judgment" you seem to be referring to, about which St. Paul said that he does not even judge himself! These are two different things: judgment v. discernment.

These verses aren't talking about all Christians

They refer to an elite group who are to act as priests and to rule as kings with Christ during his Thousand Year Reign. (REVELATION 20:4, 6)
REVELATION 14:1 shows the number of them

They must have subjects to rule over -
these are the ones living on the earth - PSALM 37:29

So, as Christians we shouldn't judge others. That right is reserved to God, Jesus & the "holy ones"

Any other questions?

you have to cross reference Matthew 19:28, 2 Timothy 2:12 and Rev 20:4.

Paul views believers as fully competent to judge cases where Christians have claims against one another, because they view matters from a godly vantage point. In comparison with their future role in the judgement of the world and of angels (Jude 6) judgments concerning things of this life are insignificant.

Those verses are about believers rules for judging other believers. What we as Christ's representatives must do is what he would do, which is to show non believers his love rather than judge them, which lets face it, if you feel someone is judging you, you will be turned off from their beliefs very quickly.

Vs 2 NAB - "Do you not know that the holy ones will judge the world? If the world is to be judged by you, are you unqualified for the lowest law courts?"
* Holy ones are all that are already in Heaven. The Holy Trinity and the saints. At the 1st judgement Jesus will ask the saints what they think of us, remind all of our right and wrong doings and prayers and such. Jesus takes into account what the saints ahve to say on our behalf. When God says "if the world is to be judges by you..." He isn't saying THAT we are to judge others but that WE THINK we have the right to judge others. History shows us that we do judge others by courts, trials, wars, prisonment, etc. We really don't have that right according to God but we have taken it upon ourselves to become judges, to make up our own earthly rules and punishments.

Vs3 NAB - "Do you not know that we will judge angels? Then why not everday matters?"
The "we" in verse 3 refers to the three Persons of the Holy Trinity. Just like in Genesis when it says that "we will create them in our image." Many times when God speaks He is talking to all 3 Persons at once and about them all at once. So here He is saying that the Trinity is in charge of judging the angels in Heaven so the Trinity can also judge everything else that goes on in the universe. Especially us on earth.

Vs 4-6 NAB - "If, therefore, you have courts for everyday matters, do you seat as judges people of no standing in the church? I say this to shame you. Can it be that there is not one among you wise enough to be able to settle a case between brothers? But rather brother goes to court against brother, and that before unbelievers."
We have taken it upon ourselves to take people to court and judge, make a human decision about the human situation, and punish them. We aren't suppose to do this accourding to God, thus we are sinning. If we judge non-believers the same way aren't we sinning worse? God Himself says "SHAME ON YOU." If we can't settle matters between ourselves and the people that we love, the people that believe that same as ourselves, then how can we settle matters between us and non-believers. When 2 people are completely different then they will never agree on an issue, especially when it comes to morals, sins, faith, and religion. We need to stop fighting and accept each other for who we are and live among each other with love and respect. If we live this way then where is no reason to judge each other.

Continue readin Chapter 6. Verse 7 says"Now indeed [then] it is, in ANY case, a failure on your part that you have lawsuits against one another. Why not rather put up with inustice? Why not rather let yourselves be cheated? 8 Instead, you inflict injustice and cheat, and this to brothers. 9 Do you not know that the unjust will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators {2 unmarried people having sex with each other} nor idolaters nor adulters nor boy prostitutes nor sodomites {homosexuals} 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 That is what some of you used to be; but now you have had yourselves washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God. {the Holy Spirit} {this is our baptism}

When you read the entire chapter 6 you see that it doesn't matter what we have to say about others, what our opinions are of others, if we think they sinned, if we sue others for what we think is rightfully ours, if we punish others, if we imprison others.... God does the judgement and has the only say in all matters. He is the only one that can let us in Heaven or not. So just be concerned for yourself and do as God commands. If we ALL did what God commands then we will ALL enter Heaven.

Read on into the rest of that chapter, it is talking about judging as far as in a court of law. It always helps to read the verses before and after the ones that may confuse you they give you a better understanding.
