Why cann't I download pdf files with Netscape?

I got this new Compaq 3 wks ago and have been having trouble getting on the internet from the beginning. I think I've solved the problems with IE but they remain with Netscape. Some URLs I cann't get, .zip files either download as code or not at all, and I get disconnected from Netscape's technical support. I have gone thru IE Tools>internet options, and Netsape's security center. Anybody got any ideas?

Netscape's browser is not quite what it used to be, All the people who made it are now making and supporting Firefox (Mozilla), I'd suggest downloading and using Firefox http://www.getfirefox.com instead.
