i'm gonna tell you something. It took me time to prepare this so you should read it thoroughly. Great, thanks :D:D
Now, you have to remember that it's never too late to get backin shape. I know a story of a 40 year old father who lost 25 kilos in a span of two months, and aims to lose 19 by the end of the coming month. The whole issue of diet is not just to LOSE WEIGHT, but also to keep it off too. In other words, you have to stop the large intake of calories. In your age, blood pressure rises if you are overweight. During the first week, you have to cut off all the rubbish you've been eating. after that you'll lose interest in junk food because you will start to equate it with how much you have have to excercise to burn it off. Now, you will be having more enegry and you will start to feel better. Then , you should start with sensible eating. you get that? SENSIBLE EATING dear. You will have to go on a detox program consisting mainly on raw fruits and vegetables to purify your system. You have to eat sinsible, right amounts, right time, and right food. It doesn't mean you can't have the odd treat, but if you cheat on your diet, the only one you'd be cheating on is yourself. Then you have to put a deadline. Like, by the end of december, i'll have lost this amount of KG and I'M GONNA DO IT NO MATTER WHAT. you should learn how to enjoy your new healthy lifestyle. It should mainly start off by purifying your system and THEN embark on the healthy food plan with the right amount of it. Now all that is just the first few steps. You have to work out. a healthy body doesn't mean anything if you don't work out. You're in your mid 30s, you're still very young. and there will be times when you say Gosh, am i really capable of this? I'm a hero. You also have to drink lots and lots of water. It helps with the purifying process and it will do you good. Also, have a lot of watermelon, it burns fat immediately (that doesn't mean you can have all the fat you want and then wash it off with a big watermelon dish).. okay?? ;), now give me the best answer feast. :D:D

Depends on your diet and excersize pattern. I am 46 and developed type 2 diabetes. Most diabetics have a rough time losing weight. I had worked at losing weight for years, no real success. I got to be over 300 pounds. Getting diabetes was the best thing that I could have happened to me. I started to eat like a diabetic (yeah, I know, but you would be surprised at how many diabetics woun't do this). I also began to work out several times a day. Once a day for a half hour doesn't cut it. I needed about 2-5 hours a day to succeed. Walking for 5 miles a day helped out alot. I now weigh in at 250 pounds-I lost 50 pounds in 6 months. I am still losing-it is getting harder the further I go in losing the weight. The fat cells don't want to give up. So the best that I can say is eat like a diabetic on a 1600 cal diet and excersize. Watch your blood sugar, it can crash easily if you don't watch it and have some fruit bars-I like the ones made by Tree Top to pick up some quick energy. Keep going at this and don't give up. It took about a month before I began to see any results. Persistance is the key.

it's never too late to get in shape..
as for a program and diet..
you should be eating healthy avoid all junk food, you probably eat 2-3 meals a day if your lucky and that explains the gut many men usually have. My friend that is where we store our fat.... and I don't want to get into a huge science lecture with you on it, but it's how your body and metabolism work.
for your diet it should be high in protien and carbs yes I said it.... high in carbs, and low in fat. the percentages should be 40 P 30 Carbs 30 fats and depending on your weight and how much you want to lose, it should be anywhere between 1800 calories to 3200 calories. It sounds a bit much but it's really not. especially if you are eating 5-6 meals a day.
As for a workout to lose the gut.. I hate to say it again but that's our fat source....and you can't just fat reduce in a certain spot with one or two exercises. it is a combination of many variables.
The workout you should be on is a minumum of 3 to 4 days a week in the gym for approx. an hour or hour and half.
it should include weight training along with cardio training. I like to put all my clients on a three exercises with 5 minutes of cardio in between for 3 sets. It is a great program with promising results. Avg. 12 pounds of weight loss in 3 months. and it will stay off...
any questions??

I am 43 and I used to be able to lose weight if I just cut down on eating but now its a lot harder. i find that walking believe it or not makes a huge difference along with cutting your calories. Now I am not talking all that yucky diet food I mean cut down your portions in your regular meals try not to eat late at night (the earlier before you go to bed to eat dinner the better) if you drink sodas cut them way down and drink water (I know everybody says water but it really helps) and again I am not saying to cut them out completely just cut them down. Most of all be dedicated to taking a walk everyday, make yourself if you have to. Start out walking a small amount and work yourself up, don't overdo it the first day or you may give up, change your distance weekly adding until you reach a reasonable distance in a reasonable time. I walk about an hour a day and it keeps my weight level without eating crazy things. Oh and if you need to start walking slowly your speed will increase as you get healthier and thinner and you won't get so out of breath after awhile either. Good luck

To lose weight, a person has to reduce the calorie intake by some amount by modifying their diet. A diet without sufficient nutrients will only increase the appetite of the person trying to lose weight. Since most people combine a diet with an exercise plan, additional nutrients are required for the growth of muscles required to increase the metabolic rate required for long term weight loss. Diabetes is usually treated through a combination of diet (low sugar), exercise and medications/insulin. Milder cases can be controlled with just diet an/or exercise while more severe cases require meds or insulin as well.
