I think I kind of saved someone's life once by getting them to get someone to the doctors in time to save their foot. They said if he waited any longer it may have had to have been amputated. I realised then how powerful what you say could be. So I don't say anything bad or nasty to someone who may be in a fragile or dangerous frame of mind. I don't think it's funny to joke at times like that.

Have you had a similar experience where you feel you said/did something that really made a difference to someone?

I may have saved the world in sharing my opinions, but nobody probably knows.

I can't say that I have made a Life changing difference for someone on answers but I do take very seriously the fact that something nasty mean or callous could have undesired consequences, therefore I don't write such things and I commend you for speaking out. The phrase sense and sensibilities comes to mind. More people need to have that frame of mind.

There have been a few who have contacted me via email to tell me they apreciated my responces and that they did concider my advice helpful... one of these kind notes counters all of the vile hate responces from the cowards who fear so much they can not take the responsability for their acts of hate here.... I too try very hard to be honest and acurate when dealing with those clearly in need of help... but I do admit to letting some barbs fly at some of the haters on YA

Well,I could have, but I don't know for sure.I've advised women that thought they were pregnant but having pain that they needed to see a doctor because it might be ectopic.Finding that out before it gets really bad could make a big difference in someone's life, but I don't know if that's what was causing the pain,so I don't know if I made a difference.

Hey there, I like you-you're cool. I'd have to agree with you and say yes too. A few times I have given advice to friends of my daughters when they couldn't talk to anyone else. I even may have saved one of her friends lives once when she was on the verge of suicide. Someday I hope to save MANY lives (and everyone reading this can too) by becoming organ donors. More people need to register to be bone marrow donors too.

I've had a few people send me emails thanking me for answers I've given. Even one from someone who didn't like my answer, but admitted I was right.

Nothing that dramatic, but people have thanked me for cheering them up and giving them good advice.

How cool must it have felt to get that note?!? Glad you could be there for him. *hug*
