I have always been a fan of Heelers (red or blue) or Australian Sheep Dogs.. They are awesome pets, depends on the nature of one ---> good w kids, and extremely loyal. I myself have three of them 1 red, 2 blues but they DO need space to run, ie a big yard or taking them out for walks or goin to the park.. but other than that they are great! In some states you can pick em up pretty cheap if not for free but others can run a bit expensive.. here is a website where you can read a little bit more about them

I have a black lab and have 2 toddlers, an adult cat and a kitten and she's the smartest dog I've ever had and puts up with a lot from the kids and doesnt try to go after the kitten. Only thing with labs is they like to chew so need lots of chew toys. I also grew up with dobermans but you really need to get one at a well-known breeder as a puppy because they can turn on you if you get a bad one.

There is no "one dog fits all" breed. People like dogs are all different and different preferences and desires for their choices. I suggest you get a book on dogs breeds which tells you about the characteristics of each breed and then decide. Don't just randomly pick do your homework first so you will be satisfied with your choice.

Depends what kind of dog you are looking for. Large, small, active, lazy, sport, purely domestic. There is a good dog for each person. Actually the best type of dog is a mutt because they don't have all the problems, physical and temperamental.

I just got a Black Labrador retriever two weeks ago. I adopted him from Petco. He was eleven weeks old. He is the smartest dog I've ever had. I have already taught him to sit, lay, and fetch. I would recommend this type of dog.

As with cats I prefer mixed breed dogs, preferably short-haired terrier derivatives.

They tend to be smart, trainable and loyal. I usually shy away from purebred cats or dogs.

I have found that my wolf hybrid has been the best breed for me.
he's very large and intimidating to other people but around myself, wife, and two small kids he's just a big puppy!! I've had him for 8 years now and i wouldn't trade him for anything. when he dies I'll go and get another one.

My dog. You can't have her. She's been my companion for almost ten years. She's a German shepherd mix, and I got her from the city dog pound. She is completely awesome!
