I know that you already know your wines but...

Oysters: Believe it or not, Guinness

Rare Steak: Young California Cabernet, ie. BV Napa or better...

Fettucini Alfredo: Acidic Italian white (to cut through the thick sauce...) ie. Pinot Grigio or better, Arnies (from Piedmont).

Champagne: try real popcorn with real butter (no joke) , yummy!

Pinot Noir: Pinot N and prime rib fatten each other, the best!

Efrenfelser: don't know, but I'd like to have it with you.

With oysters, something light like a White Zin.
Steak: a Cabernet
Fettucini Alfredo: a light, slightly sweet red wine.

BBQ Chicken + Beer = Great summer meal

A medium to tame marinara dish with most pinot grigios at 50 degrees (especially italian rather than californian)

A heavily seasoned steak dish: cote du rhone/ most bordeux

oysters: semillon
heavy seafood dishes: chianti or chilean merlot
spicy dishes: gewurztraminer
