Possible side effects of Lunesta

• If you experience any of the following serious side effects, stop taking Lunesta and seek emergency medical attention:
· an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, face, or tongue; hives).
• Contact your doctor if you experience
· daytime drowsiness, dizziness, or clumsiness;
· more outgoing or aggressive behavior than normal;
· confusion;
· strange behavior;
· memory loss problems;
· agitation;
· worsening of depression;
· hallucinations; or
· new feelings of depression.
• Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur, such as headache and unpleasant taste. If these become bothersome, contact your doctor.
• A problem that may occur when sleep medicines are stopped is known as "rebound insomnia." This means that a person may have more trouble sleeping the first few nights after the medicine is stopped than before starting the medicine. If you should experience rebound insomnia, do not get discouraged. This problem usually goes away on its own after 1 or 2 nights.
• Lunesta may be habit forming. Stopping this medication suddenly can cause withdrawal effects if you have taken it continuously for several weeks. Talk to your doctor about the safe use of this medication.
• Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome.

Don't get smart with anyone on here when you're the one asking a question and with an attitude like that who's going to want to talk to you. You don't know what works because maybe you havent consulted with a holistic specialist who can sit down and talk to you about methods to remedy the problem you're having with sleeping. Lunesta is a fairly new drug on the market so it's not had a chance to develop much of a reputation in the side effects department. Doctors are probably still newly documenting any side effects and they tell you what they are when you're considering or being prescribed a drug and what it's side effects and interactions with other medications are. Technically all meds have some side effects to them and one of them is changing your body chemistry and hormone levels. If you have a problem with sleeping check out this website and email the nurse who runs it and ask her what you can do to help you sleep and follow some simple changes in your lifestyle and sleeping habits.

I had good experiences with Lunesta for sleep, but it is habit-forming. Now I take Geodon for sleep and I feel great in the morning.

if you've exerted all the otc stuff, lunesta or ambien might be able to help. same drug class and basically does the same thing. it is a controlled substance that has some potential for abuse and addiction, but nothing harsh as long as you follow your doctors orders and pharmacist recommendations

Honestly, if you read the side-effects for almost any drug - even aspirin! - it will scare you to death. Try the pill and relax...remember no alcohol with it! Good luck and gentle sleep!
