I think it's fine for the ladies, but when I get an e-mail or IM from a man who dresses up his chat with smileys, makes me wonder?

Is is more manly to say *smiles* or *sad* than to use emotes? It all depends on what the emote is. If its is made for a girl, and he uses it a lot then...... But if its a wink emote ; ) Then that's a manly guy flirting with hopefully a girl.

My husband is a manly man and dresses up his emails with smileys and frownies all the time. I can only do the :) sign. Haven't progressed to his level to get an actually smiley.

I asked this guy I've been IM-ming with, and he says yes, he does use smileys. At least when he talks to me, he does.

depends on how often and how masculine he comes across in the email now doenst it? Honestly...it has nothing to do with what makes a real man now does it?

no, its true! a friend of mine had a buddy who knew someone who was a normal guy till he started using those damn emoticons. next thing you know he was wearing women's clothing and trying to pick guys up in bars.

it was really sad---a young promising life that went down the drain all because the emoticons awoke this savage transvestite desire in him.

it was really sad.

Uh the smileys are there for a reason...if it was only meant for chicks then it would be modified for chicks...if you feel creeped out by it...DONT TALK TO HIM THEN!

Emoticons express feelings.

I thought women wanted men to express their feelings more.
