On the trouble shooting @ Media Player it says that either a sound device isn't working properly or isn't installed. Our computer doesn't have Word, Powerpoint, etc, but does have the internet. Does that have something to do with it? Pls Help, I wanna listen to my music!!!

It sounds like you don't have a sound card. Go to best buy, and buy one. They cost about $20.

Do you have a place to plug speakers into on the back or front of the machine? If not then you most likely don't have a sound card. If you do then the drivers for the sound card may not be installed properly. Run a windows update and see if it downloads new drivers. Or go into the control panel under system under sounds and select your sound card then update the driver.

The question is, does it have a sound card/chip?

Does the back of the computer have places to plug in speakers? If not you are out of luck until you buy a sound card. If so, look up the sound device in the device mnager and see if it has drivers installed.

Go to device mgr and see if you have a yellow triangle at the sound setting. Most all mobo's have default sound on the mother board and an option to use it or not if you have a sound card in a slot. The device mgr. should tell you what you have (go to "properties" once you are at the sound setting) Also open the sound icon in the control panel and see what is set there.
Last but not least, go to control panel and click on add new hardware and let Windows see if it can detect it.
