Fear is a bit of a misnomer as it is used here. Worry would be a better work wehn it comes to kids and rights and freedoms and such. Fear is a basic emotional response to something that we do not understand or comprehend, be it an instantaneous lack of understanding, or a more primal lack of understanding. This lack causes the basic emotional response that is labeled fear. It is a motivator in the fact that it triggers the fight or flight instinct that allows 90 year old women to lift cars off of kids and other 'superhuman' feats. Fear, if left unchecked on a higher level can lead to another basic emotional response that is labeled hate. There is a tenet in the psychological community that goes: "Man fears that whichhe does not understand, and hates that which he fears, simply because he does not understand it." It is not possible to truly live wihtout fear, it is an instinctual response hardwired into our psychological makeup. People who feel that they do not fear anything are most liekley people who are eiher confident are less subject to fear, or outright liars.
Worry on the other hand, is a learned emotional response to the 'what if' conundrum. In extreme cases, it can lead to things like agoraphobia, OCD and catatonia. Normally, it is just our minds playing out 'what if' scenarios and seeing the worst possible outcome.

Sure, I can. Will I? No. It's a natural human response and while I am alive here in this mortal body, I am afraid(no pun intended) that I will always at least for the time being, fear one thing or another. The trick is to not let it consume me or prevent me from doing what needs or what I want to do( within reason). When I go to be with the Lord Jesus, fear will be just a distant memory!!! :D I cannot wait!!

Fear is NOT a basic instinct. It is a learnt behaviour, loaded with cultural, religious, linguistic, societal and cryptic genesis.
"Flight or fight" syndrome is a cognitive reaction to the production, secretion and circulation of adrenaline. But the psychological meaning of that physiological event is a construct.
People born with Down Syndrome live TOTALLY WITHOUT FEAR because their chromosonal make-up is deficient in the production of adrenaline. Ditto with people who have been lobotomized.
You can live without fear, but is not very probable, as you would have to undergo cognitive behavioural therapy and forget your childhood -- the time when 'fear' was programmed in the brain.

There is a positive force in the world.
And there is a negative force in the world.
Everything has an equal and opposite.
Fear is the negative side trying to control you.
By making you scared they are paralyzing your brain with another emotion and then you can't think / react properly.
Your mind is like a computer and fear jams the circuits.
Don't live in fear.... but use your memories of fear to understand situations that could be, say, dangerous?
f you live in fear, you will get notihng done in this world.

For me, it is not about living without fear. Fear exists within each of us.
It is a matter of mastering fear, through Love.
We have a choice, to be ruled by our Fear, or to be ruled by our Love. To be ruled by Fear denies us the power to choose Love. Fear denies us faith in the power of Love to free us from the manipulations of Fear. We act on the manipulation of Fear because we feel we must, that we have no choice.
But Love recognizes the power of Fear, and overcomes it. No matter how much we Fear, our Love is stronger and gives us the strength, the courage to face our Fear and not let it rule us.
No matter how much I Fear danger, my Love is stronger and I face that danger for the sake of Love. I do not want my son to feel pain, but if he does, my Love overcomes my Fear and I act to alleviate my son's pain.
But if I allow Fear to control me, I run away from the danger, I refuse to face it, and so my son's pain continues.
