Do yourself a favor to avoid miscommunication and misunderstanding and use the real english language and ask them to do the same. It really is a good habit to get into. Using short versions of words becomes a habit - we get young adults at work, just starting out in the workworld, that can't spell or cannot write a complete sentence. Old habits can be hard to break.
