If the food is emiting gas/water vapor. And you inhale that you would gain what that weighed. Obviously, its not measurable.
So technically yes.

Well even if smell is the process of taking in microscopic particles of food, which get recognized by the brain as being a particular food, (or whatever it is) those micromolecules of something edible (solid or liquid) would contain such a tiny decimal of a calorie that it would not matter, AND, the calorie energy probably cannot enter the body as efficiently through just the surface of the nose as it could through the mouth and stomach.....
Yes it would enter the luings and circulatory system but such a small amount-
coz think of it- those 'bits' of food are so small they are floating through the air-- so somewhere on the order of 0.000001 calories per sniff... :) And you probably burn 2-3 calories just sniffing.....so maybe you'd lose wieght! lol (or pass out from snorting too much)

Hey,
lol..Actually NO! You can NOT gain weight just by smelling food..but it has been shown that smells can increase the want to eat...but just the smell alone can NOT make you gain weight lol.
Hope I helped

No, but smelling food, especially a favorite delicious food can make one even hungrier and then eat more and then gain weight.

lets get back to basic physics theorem. whatever coming in is equal to whatever coming out.
for goodness sake. u just smell that thing. its not like u eat it.
but if u smell food that smells good, u might be tempted to eat it. then and only then u will gain weight. if u just smell and look (and salivate and imagining) eating it, then, no problem.
i guess thats how nicole richie get her stick-like figure.

of course not.
They say even that smelling food a lot reduces hunger and helps you eat less.

not unless you get so close you suck it up your nose and it goes down your throat to your stomach. and even then it would have to be a pretty huge snort.
