Well, I think you and I DID witness our souls being born into physical bodies, but we were not consciously aware at the time. We were still in the womb and our senses hadn't formed (we were just embryos back then).
Did you ever read Dune? Frank Herbert explores this concept when Alia (the Abomination) becomes fully aware just like an adult, while her mother is still pregnant with her.
